Wow, they are really doubling down on the whole "Universal" champion... even got it on that shiny new belt of theirs. Like anyone over 5, not a fan of the name, but I'm digging the red.

*Mauro is really growing on me... he even remembered to call it a "school girl" instead of a "School boy" in the ladies match... Just a nice little touch.

*I like the "demon" entrance... it's exciting, and artistic, but sometimes... I don't know... maybe it's the arena, or the scope is just too big and bright... but it just feels too much like pageantry.

*Rollins new outfit looks like he stole it from an X-men comic.

*I'm kind of tempted to change my pick from Rollins to Balor. Balor could be the guy to launch the title... it's a feather in his cap that Rollins wouldn't need, and would be a heck of a way to put Balor right into the mix of top guys; which is something the brand split needs.

*Cena and Styles was everything you could want it to be... total match of the year candidate, and another one of those matches that is going to help cement Cena as one of the greatest of all time.

Yeah, they really should have gone with a different design for the Universal title. I was looking forward to seeing what it was going to look like, so was disappointed when I saw it was basically just the current WWE title belt with a red strap.

Rollins new outfit is blatantly from Tron.

I don't want Balor to lose, because that'd be two consecutive losses for the Demon King - kind of defeats the purpose of having the inner darker side if he loses as it anyway. Demon Balor shouldn't lose, at least, not yet.

Tron! That is what Seth's design reminded me of! I could not place it. I knew it was familiar. I was even recalling that cartoon The Centurions. Tron. That is it!

I am also digging Mauro on commentary. I like his style and exuberance. Mauro reminds me of Chris Hudson but more dynamic and on point.

Or it gives an excuse for them to redesign the Demon for a dominant win in the future. I think it could be refreshed and the merchandise machine would probably love to have alternate versions of The Demon to sell.

Fans have been booing the title when it appears on screen.

Glad Finn won. It was no surprise but I am still happy to see Finn win.

The crowd seemed to back into the match but not quite as hot as Cena/Styles. Or am I wrong?

So between Jeri-KO/E&C2.0;, Cena/AJ, Sasha/Charlotte, and Balor/Rollins...can we say SummerSlam topped Tskeover yet?

Or do we need Brock hitting 300 suplexes?

I understand this being a palate cleanser before Brock/Orton. But it is sort of bullshit to see US title go on after both World Titles. Brooklyn will probably shit on Rome extra hard for this.

This crowd is lame beyond belief, and I don't have a real feel for their exact wrongness. Too wankery? Too hipster/too-cool-for-school? Too jaded, in general? I dunno, but there are ways this could end with Rusev/Reigns and Lesnar/Orton really plopping two big turds that are magnified by the crowd.

Did somebody just slip me some acid, or did I really just see Miz-as-the-Family-Guy-chicken vs. Dolph-as-Colonel-Sanders, and it was more fun than either of their actual matches? [Only slight exaggeration; Dolph/Ambrose was actually as good ro better than I expected, for the most part, just with an anticlimactic finish.]

Brock hitting 300 suplexes would garner a negative from me to be honest, shit's getting stale.

Rick

Wankers having a visceral need to shit on something when there's nothing much to shit on anymore. Cena's having great matches and putting over AJ Styles. Prince Devitt just won a major title on his PPV debut. Nikki Bellas ass. But nope, WWE sucks.

I noticed too. Seems like Cena/A.J. sucked the juice out the crowd 'cause everything after's come nowhere close to getting the same pops.

ETA: Uh, wut? Yeah no, no yeah no j/k lol golly on that one.

WE WANT SLATER! and CM PUNK! chants. Neat.

Miz should just wear that chicken outfit all of the time... Match of the night!

*Yay for Balor... that was pretty solid, and I think him and Rollins can do even better in what should make for a pretty interesting feud... Well, provided they can move past it just being based on Rollins calling Balor the "demon king" over and over.

*Pretty solid PPV thus far... pretty much as promised in most matches. It's lacking that "it's personal and I want to hurt you" extra mile that well crafted feuds add to the mix, but from a technical POV there's been a lot of good stuff out there. Honestly, as long as Rusev and Reigns is passable, and RKO and Brock can hit at least one get everyone talking spot to go along with a solid match that doesn't end in some kind of crap this should end as a very solid B-B+ PPV... honestly what's hurt it most has been the brand split and lack of solid story telling going into the PPV... it hasn't really made for any must see matches (although several that are anticipated) which given the length of the show kind of makes it feel like you are passing time for it to be over, instead of counting down the minutes until such and such a match happens.

ETA:

*Rusev and Reigns kind of shit the bed there... maybe they were a bit worried about the time crunch and called an audible, but that comes off weak looking for Rusev and anti-climatic for Reigns... I don't know, maybe it should have started backstage and then spilled out if they were going to do a non-match.

So I'm guessing the match isn't happening. Is this a double turn?

Is it me or does this PPV suck? Yes, AJ/Cena was absolutely phenomenal (no pun intended) and Universal match was good but everything else has been mediocre.

My "prediction" earlier will not fix it. Maybe I will watch Turnover to make me feel better.

Yeah, this should have been formatted much differently. This has been their curse for years now. AJ/Cena and Sasha/Charlotte should have been in the last hour, not the first one.

In the match of the night (in my pants), Maryse edged out Lana. I want Rusev and Miz to form a tag team so they cam have the (in my (wet)) dream(s) valet team.

In My Veins......you'll find a lot of Adderall and other fun stuff circulating about these days.

Really? Lana's Wedding Diaper did it for you?

I wish both those women would go back to wearing "civilian" clothes. Maryse melts my brain when she's with Miz for guest commentary and stuff like that, and not trying too hard. I assume Lana could get back to generating the same results, too.

More seriously: I agree that WWE is purposely doing some things differently with PPV format, now that they own the network.... but also, I think it's stylistically on purpose, and not just a by product. They have flat out given up on creating a 3-hour block of High Value TV that keeps you in your seat and riveted (like a movie ticket), and moved to the UFC/Olympics "event model," where you are hanging out with people, and the gathering is the thing.... and you all get together and focus on the big/major parts of the show, but they purposely put in filler so that you can also have fun hanging out and socializing, and only the weirdoes are expected to watch all 4+ hours.

Years ago, I might have applauded this. But now, I'm a lonely man watching 80% of PPVs by myself, and I really notice the pacing issues....

I liked Brock more when he was more of a wrestling guy and less of a jailhouse fighting league guy.
