Well, we can safely say there will not be a Super Bowl rematch this year.

Sam Bradford, quarter season MVP?

As a Panthers fan, I'm not mad about Denver dropping two in a row . But yeah, the Panthers are definitely done and the Broncos may be on their way to being done.

And Sam Bradford...who the fuck would have thought? I think the Vikings might be this year's 2015 Panthers, just that nobody was expecting them to achieve this much success. That defense is legit and as long as Bradford tows the line, they're a top three NFC team right now.

I was in Minn-St. Paul just before the season began. There was a local furniture store advertising free stuff (rebates on purchases during a specific time) if "the purple win 12". The folks I was with thought zero chance. I wonder who wrote that insurance rider.

After Hauschka missed that field goal, and the cameras captured Pete Carroll's reaction, I pictured Tex rewatching it about 5,000 times in a row.

It seemed no one wanted to win that game, unlike another team I know.

So, anyone watch the Pats- Bills game? If so you saw a Bills fan with a good arm throw a dildo out onto the field. Maybe it's catch on like octopus and hats?

Oh, and some of you may find this tiring but it's always fresh for me.

Aaaaaand my Panthers suffer their fourth loss of the season decided by a last-second field goal. I'm done (just like the Panthers).

There's only really four good teams in the NFL right now: the Pats, Seahawks, Cowboys, and Raiders. Everyone else is either kinda bad and still in it or is awful and maybe has two wins to their name. I'm going to make this prediction: none of the four teams listed above makes the Super Bowl this year.

Ignore my homerness for a second and think before you answer.... Are we sure Dallas is that good? If you look at ESPN's playoff standings they have the Strength of Schedule for each team, and Dallas' is by far the easiest schedule so far this year, .386. The next easiest in the league is New England at .431, so to add to that point, is New England that good too?

Now Dallas' next three are all against winning records (Skins at home on Turkey day then at Minnesota and at Giants) which will answer my question pretty convincingly but I don't think they are going to be 15-1 going into the playoffs. They also don't have a losing record opponent the rest of the way (Bucs/Eagles are 5-5 and the Lions in between) If they go 3-3 the rest of the way could we see Romo back under center?

In those three games, I'd say if they lost to the two NFC East teams or just to the Vikings, then we can remove them from the "good" discussion and for two different reasons: the Skins and Giants are okay, but beatable by a good team (that the Giants only beat the Bears by a touchdown with no extra point makes me think that if they can't beat the Giants by at least 10, they might be like every other team), and the Vikings are so beat up that, barring AP coming back early for the game, any team in serious contention should handle them easily.

First, cuz he beat me to the quote, OOMike what "homerness"? The Buckeyes playing a different division.

Now to the quote,
The Pats D locker room is a mess. What's eeking out in the media reminds me of 2009, when BB lost the team.

Seattle is now on RB # 5 or is it 6, wait this is a recycled guy, so it might be 4...

Raiders...well...Nah- too soon.

Noob might be onto something....

Pats beat the Seahawks again is my call.

The thing about the Patriots, though, is that they cheat a lot. I mean, they don't have to. Even without the cheating they'd win Super Bowls. It's simply hard to get on-board with a team and coaching staff so indifferent towards shitting on the rules when they feel they can gain from it.

It's why the only time in my life I rooted for the Giants was in that one Super Bowl. To this day, I'd suck Tyree's dick, just because of all the crying he caused the Pats that day. It's also why I can no longer respect the Patriots. Because it's hard to respect cheaters, even if they have a crap load of talent. And I used to like them. One of my top five teams to root for as a kid.

Other late-season thoughts:

Also, I wish they'd take away all those dumb rules additions that make about 1 in 4 complete passes incomplete now. It seems that you can catch the ball, run four steps, stiff-arm someone, and if the ground causes the ball to come out when you are finally tackled, it's suddenly an incomplete pass. It's kind of how if you even come within three yards of a QB these days, you get flagged for roughing the passer.

Really like the longer extra point though. It's added so much coolness to the game.

Playoff predictions: Hmm. I dunno. I'd love to see the Raiders and Cowboys in the Super Bowl. I do think Dallas will make it, but likely will face the same cheating Patriots. And probably lose to them when Brady manages to cheat somehow, while Billy B denies it without even hiding his smile.

Unless you're Cam Newton. (Sorry, Panthers homerism coming out here).

Speaking of dumb rules, I don't get how a taunting penalty nets the same amount of yardage as unnecessary roughness. I hate to go back to Cam (since I know that most people who aren't a Panthers fan can't stand him), but he tossed the ball after taking a questionable hit while sliding in Monday's game against the Redskins and got flagged for a 15-yard taunting penalty. Why does tossing a football and, say, hitting someone helmet to helmet net the same amount of penalty yardage? Then again, this is the NFL we're talking about.

As for the playoffs, I'm looking forward to them. The AFC seems fairly wide open to me, as I wouldn't be shocked to see the Pats, Steelers, Raiders, or Chiefs make it to the Super Bowl (though let's face it, it'll probably be the Pats). In the NFC, you kind of figure it has to be either the Cowboys or Seahawks, though there could always be that "get hot at the right time" team like the Packers, who are on a four-game winning streak. And while Dallas seems totally legit, I am curious to see how Dak will perform under the pressure of the playoffs.

It's a shame that, after yesterday, we can pretty much write off the Raiders as a legit Super Bowl contender. Having to go from Derek Carr to Matt McGloin is something I wouldn't wish on anyone, especially right before your team's first playoff run in quite a while. The Titans almost found themselves in the same situation, but they had the misfortune to just get eliminated by virtue of losing yesterday even with Mariotta for three quarters.

And now that the Steelers just knocked off the Ravens and clinched the AFC North, the Chiefs are also in, which means the last AFC playoff spot is either going to go to the Dolphins with a Denver loss or things gets even more complicated with the potential that the Chiefs could still wind up winning the West by winning tonight and next week (and hoping Denver would still care enough to try to beat a QB-less Raiders team for them).

That was terrible timing for the Raiders, but considering a large portion of their fans are crazed assholes, I don't feel, you know, too bad about it (though I do feel bad for Carr). As a football fan though, it is a shame that we're not going to see one of the top AFC teams at full strength for the playoffs.

Let me add too that as a Panthers fan, watching Denver get spanked by Kansas City on Sunday and knocked out of playoff contention made me feel a little better about our forgettable season (and it's apparently the first time since 2003 that neither Super Bowl team made the playoffs the following year). If we're gonna suck this year, at least the team that beat us in the Super Bowl last year does too. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
