And we're in a 3 month mid-season break.
Great.

The end of the Matanza match was really good.
That smack against the steel girder thing he gave Mysterio was sick. Sounding at least.

What are you interested in seeing in the 2nd half of the season?

I'm wondering how they'll pay off Johnny Mundo's superfan. That couldn't have been a throwaway in the hall with Sexy Star a couple of weeks back.

Is it just a 3 month break? I thought it wasn't supposed to restart until the summer, which is nearly 5. I think this is awful, but I did want to go back and check a few of the older episodes but never could make the time. The double header tonight of the first season's Aztec Warfare and Grave Consequences match between Fenix and Mil Muertes are 2 of my favorite. I just hope they don't lose all momentum of what they had. If this Netflix deal is true, then maybe that's the key outlet to get the product out to more people.

The thing I'm interested in most is how the whole police angle unfolds. Now we have Cortez Castro double undercover, but with the arm tattoo it's surely only a matter of time before he's found out again.

I thought the spot where Matanza chokeslammed Dragon Ezteca Jr. through the bleachers was awesome. Seeing Matanza go through the top of that storage closet was alright, too. However, that's been done before and the last time it was done, the Temple didn't have to shut down for 3-months. It was an odd way to set up a mid-season hiatus.

I thought the segment with Johnny Mundo and The Mack was pretty bad. I love that The Mack gives people the Stunner as an ode to Stone Cold, but I didn't care for the deliberate attempt to make him out to be Stone Cold by having him give everyone in sight the Stunner. That was the first bad idea I've seen in Lucha Underground in a long time.

There was an image posted on LU's Facebook yesterday with the date 5/31/17.

So it looks like that's the return date.

They've also announced that seasons one and two will be available on Netflix. No word on season 3 or what this means going forward for their relationship with El Rey.

Well, that was fun! I kind of disliked the ending to begin with as it was happening just because it was the usual "stretch shit out so we're down to the final seconds of the match" thing, and then ending with a tie seemed a bit anticlimactic. I figured SOMETHING would come out of that, and hopefully the continuation of the match into next week's episode means we literally just get a second iron man match. I'll gladly accept a shorter match with something amusing, though.

I'm really glad LU is bringing back long matches like this, even if it's only once a year.

No complaints about it...but I'm eager to get the other storylines moving again as well as this one. Hopefully we get re-introductory vignettes and part two of the match doesn't go more than one segment.

Oh, and Rabbit Tribe!!!

I was really hoping they were going to have something to show after the match as far as a vignette or scene. A teaser for another plot would have been nice. But that was a great match. The jumping piledriver off the apron through the tables was incredible. So was the frogsplash from halfway up the ladder. Some good high flying by both.

When did it change to a no DQ match? I had no idea what was going on when Mundo did the nutshot after faking the injury. Was half expecting Marty Elias to reveal himself as the Nick Patrick of the Worldwide Underground.

I thought the draw did a good job of ripping the hearts out of the crowd even if it is a bitter finish. Getting another final sudden death continuation next week is a little flat after waiting for 3 months for some action. I want more!

I think we're getting another 45-minute match tonight. I'm not opposed to that.

If you will recall the Chavo vs. Rey Loser Leaves Lucha match, Chavo Classic hit Chavo Jr. with a chair to get Rey disqualified, but Dario Cueto came out and said that there are no disqualifications in his Temple. I don't remember any DQ finishes before that match, so if it wasn't already obvious, Cueto's announcement to that effect, which restarted the match, basically cemented that rule.

There are no disqualifications in Dario Cueto's Temple!

I mostly expected another full-length match, but I'll take that too. Some fun matches, and "no time for pants."

This last episode is what I wanted to see after the long break. Maybe they anticipated a slow return of the viewership so made this one not be the returning show. But it had everything -- Vampiro-Puma-Rey, Drago turning on the ex-trios titles holders, all 3 matches were exciting, no time for pants!

Johnny Mundo and Mack took some absolutely brutal bumps these past 2 weeks. The feud was a good one, but something just didn't resonate into it being a big time showdown for me. Mack just needs a little more to come out of his character to propel him to the top. He's got the ability.

Looks like the ratings were much improved too.

Last week's show was great! I just watched it last night. Man, Dario Cueto has really come along with his promo skills. I can't really remember him being bad at it, but he's stepped up his game. His announcement of the Cueto Cup was on point. He puts most of the WWE roster to shame. That line about how the word "proprietor" on his office door should be changed to "Lucha Libre Genius" made me smile. I loved it.

We got two fantastic matches with an okay trios contest in the middle. I like Kobra Moon and the idea that she's Drago's master, so I'm willing to give the reptiles a chance, but I think there's something lacking about them.

And yeah, Johnny Mundo's "no time for pants" promo was great.

Bring on the Cueto Cup!

A good start to the Cueto Cup. Also, I didn't really expect that ending, but I suppose these things happen when you give a wrestler a magical gauntlet.

A magical gauntlet haunted by an evil entity no less.

Man, the Cage's Dr. Claw gauntlet makes him way more violent than Dr. Claw ever was!

Also, mad props to Famous B for being amazing! I want to know where I can get me a suit like the one he was wearing.

I love how the believers are embracing Salta...Salty....Salto...Checkers. Shroomy Master kung fu style is entertaining the crap out of me.

And Melissa's love interest plot. Mostly because she's super cute doing the smitten kitten bit.

Plus they brought back my favorite part of the season 1 finale...Phoenix's car!
