I really need to check different parts of the bOOards more often. I could have been making snarky FTWD comments along side of you all for years.

Anyway, Strand's car was stolen from the mother who jumped out the window. Those were her keys. The reason it was not given to him (aside from the hotellers being dicks) was because no one knew where the keys were.

That was actually a very fine mid-season finale. Far better than last season's execrable one and certainly on par (if not better) than most of the ones from the mothership at TWD. Looks like Strand is going to be back to his bad-ass self after one final breakdown aboard the Abigail. Nick's junkie routine appears to be a thing of the past, and both the girls are turning out to be tougher than hell. And without Curtis holding her back Madison's innate stone-cold mentality has turned her into a genuine survivor, with the info on her past showing that she's always had to do the tough jobs and doesn't run away from them.

I've gone from "ugh" at the beginning of the season to actively looking forward to them returning from the break in September. Can't remember when any show has gone up so noticeably in quality over the course of a few episodes but this one looks like it's finally hit it's stride after the nonsense of season two nearly knee-capped it for good.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

Oh, like that I guess.

I'll pass on bitching about how Strand and Daniel eventually get back with the rest of the crew because as Pad mentioned everyone seems to have found their place and tightened their shit up. They even gave me a reason to give a shit about Ofelia and it was damn cool they went back to that initial footage of Otto finding her in the desert. Neat twist to have a hallucination of a living person get her through as opposed to all the ghost pals on TWD.

The finale (and I mean both episodes when I say this) was good, even if it had the usual plot holes big enough to drive a truck through. Madison is the real baddie here, I think, more than any one else. She's developed into a real Shane-style character. I like the development, even as I roll my eyes at things like her going to get her daughter back when the daughter was fairly safe.

Also, a motorcycle drops off someone who is banging the leader of the enemy, and you immediately allow her full access to everything? You also don't search her and notice things like bags of mysterious white powder? Throw in the fact that there's also a past with Ofelia and the head of the group and just C'mon! I mean, seriously. But whatever, heh.

I liked the poison Trojan Horse-style attack in how it played out, though, even if the setup was a bit silly. And the ending was solid, with the basic idea being that all of the groups were at least somewhat terrible human beings who had little issue in backstabbing one another when they felt they could to their advantage.

It'll be interesting to see where they go from here. The settlements are at peace, but there's still loads of resentment and water issues, along with no doubt increasing numbers of walkers eventually, as well as other human groups. Madison's group is sitting pretty, though, assuming they actually fortify the place a bit better. I mean, it seemed pretty easy for the natives to essentially walk right up to their base. But that's a personal grumble.
But yeah, they have a ridiculous amount of weapons, ammo, food and water and fuel and all the rest. Honestly, this could have been the series finale and totally believable. It'll be interesting to see what the next big threat is, and what form it takes.

ETA: Oh, as a general thought, this half-season was a lot stronger than I was expecting, and the focus on human groups over thousands of zombies being mowed down that Fear's parent show loves to do gives it something to stand on that's solid enough. I'd say 4 out of 5 fake stars for the half-season.

I gave up on this show after the first season, especially seeing as how you guys absolutely toasted the first half of the second. But, I've been - for some reason even I don't exactly know - following along.

I feel like I need a gif of Madison stunnering a zombie and then pouring beer over her face. Maybe even giving the zombie(s) - or other characters, for that matter - the bird.

I DVRed all the episodes and honestly didn't remember everything that led up to this season but man, they got back on track. Burned through the whole half season the last two nights and I can safely say that I'm pumped for the next half season. Kudos to them.

Holy hell I've never seen a series go from "Why do I fucking bother?" to "THIS IS AWESOME!!! *CLAP CLAP CLAPCLAPCLAP*!" like this before. Glad it finally came together.

ETA: Bonus pants shitting.

I really don't know why we wasted so much of the two episodes tonight on the natives vs white folks story again. I honestly thought we'd resolved that at the end of last half season, but I guess we needed a story arc to show them all digging a well together. I mean, it's fine...I just thought this bit was more tied off. The Arena setup was sort of fun, but it's amazing how easily our cast runs into one another. Still, it'll be nice getting the whole band back together.

The first two episodes were a bit on the 'eh' side for me, with things picking up a tad towards the end of the second.

Edited to Add:

And why the fuck did the place turn all their guns over to the natives? It makes zeros sense that any of the people would do that. Honestly, none of the first episode made any real sense to me in how the characters were acting. It really wasn't enjoyable to watch.

Episode three was a step up from the openers, I think. Mostly because the band will finally be back together, and the different enclaves/factions are actually being fleshed out enough to have their own distinct neatness. Seeing little niche communities like the arena trading hub, the dam people, and the ranchers/natives on the old militia compound and how they interact is fun when they manage it correctly. Throw in the growing bitterness of the fringe mobs of people all struggling with the idea of begging vs taking and the still real threat of zombies and it's not a bad setting.

Scenes which were sort of "meh" for me included the carjam on the otherwise empty road with the cluster of zombies... Why exactly did they just not put it in reverse of a half mile and use an access road? The other side of the road was 100% clear... Also, why are we still doing the natives will take the ranch bit form the leader guy that's banging the one daughter? Seriously, I've grown to hate that guy. He really is sort of a piece of shit. And yeah, they are doing the whole "we look after our own" story vibe, but yeah. Throw in the crazy militia exiled kid and I have the feeling the little area will get punished for it all soon enough.
