Tell him it's a thing everyone does. He won't know any better. He can wear them too.

I thought it was Rick Martel...

Like Pad said, the women last night were noticeably handcuffed (yeah, yeah), which was sorta annoying/distracting. I'm not one of those "I DEMAND CARNAGE" types, but I feel like if the company is going to book them into a ladder match, then they should trust that the ladies can go out there and engage in the same pandemonium that the men do. Like how it was always stupid that when the women had a battle royal, they simply had to be tossed out of the ring, rather than going over the top rope. Let them go at full speed... they aren't made of glass.

It was kind of the same at Hell In A Cell. Charlotte and Sasha put on a great match but it only took about five minutes of watching to realize that they weren't even going to go as far as Rikishi gently landing in a truck bed full of wood chips, much less going anywhere near full-insane the way Foley did. I don't need the carnage either but it's kind of off-putting when the toned-down-for-safety action in the ring doesn't come close to matching the pre-show hype or the over the top "careers have been ended - this is as extreme as it gets!" bullshit routine from the announce team.

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

I agree with the above comments about the women being noticeably handcuffed and/or holding back in the MITB match. It seemed like every time that a big spot was going to occur, they would just fall off the ladder onto the top rope (or for instance, in the cool spot where Becky ran up the ladder while Charlotte and Tamina were fighting over it, they kind of just lightly dropped the ladder onto the ropes).

100% agree. Carmella is like this year's version of Alexa for me, in that she's quickly winning me over with her heel work (and who knew she was so damn solid on the mic?). Her being paired with Elsworth is just the icing on the cake, as they were getting some great heel heat in the opening segment last night.

And on a sidenote, New Day referencing Booker T's infamous "Hulk Hogan, we comin' for you, nigga!" was one of the funniest damn things I've seen on WWE TV in a while. I find New Day pretty stale, but that was amazing.

I can understand toning down - I thought they went pretty far with the first MitB match at the PPV. Having to do the same shit just a little more than a week later is probably a lot to ask of the talent, frankly, and I don't blame them a bit for toning it down a bit on such short notice (because it's pretty clear this whole angle is all hotshot/reaction).

I think Carmella's really good and Ellsworth is great as her henchman/worm. I presume she cashes in relatively quickly, since Naomi seems to have disposed of Lana and doesn't have any other real challenger on the horizon.

I don't know why I'm not more interested in a continuation of AJ/Owens, but I'm not. It just feels like a placeholder feud for both guys.

I've mostly been fine with Orton for years, even when others have been down on him, but Jesus he's so fucking boring right now. He and Jinder fighting one another endlessly is like some experiment in mind-numbing mediocrity.

I hope it's ultimately Gable & Jordan behind the Fashion Police attacks/room trashing. A good "take this seriously" heel turn could be good for them.

I mentioned a week or two ago that Smackdown has Styles, Owens, Nakamura, Ziggler, and Zayn, yet we get Randy Orton in the WWE title picture for almost six months, Jinder Mahal as the current WWE champion, and the threat of new WWE champion Baron Corbin at any given moment. I just don't get it.

Agreed, and it kind of goes back to my last point; why are Styles and Owens feuding over the secondary title while Mahal and Corbin are in the WWE title scene? It should be the other way around.

Maybe it's because I've only been half-watching Smackdown the last few weeks, but I hadn't even considered that option. I hope you're right though, as American Alpha could use an Usos-style heel turn and freshening up.

The entire show feels lifeless and lacking in sizzle. With the exception of Becky who looks to be at her wits end, Carmella taking a level in evil, and the Fashion Police advancing in their investigatio everybody else seems to be going through the motions.

Nakamura, Zayn, AJ, and Charlotte are just there.

Going by the clips on YouTube tonight there was probably more actual hardcore in the NXT match between Asuka and Nikki Cross alone than there was on the women's main roster combined in HITC, two MITB matches, and the silly kendo-stick-on-a-pole match.

I keep hoping in vain for some kind of crowd backlash and for them to start chanting "AJ Styles!" or "Nakamura!" during an Orton/Mahal promo. I'll keep hoping.
