Well...that was fun.

Roman has to win this match though, right?

I dunno. I mean, I definitely gasped and it got my attention, but mostly I thought both guys kind of seemed like assholes. The shooty-shoot stuff was a little too Russo-riffic for me - I don't need John Cena saying 'heel turn'. I'd be much more interested in a match between these two guys for respect and being the baddest of the bad than...well, really, I'm not sure what they're fighting about except BACKSTAGE RUMORZ DAWG.

Coked Up Cena is both my least and most favorite Cena. Fun segment. No idea why they send The Good Bros. out other than to shoehorn Cena and Roman together as a tag team AGAIN and to have the announce team act like it's the wackiest thing to ever happen since it happened last week.

I honestly hope Gallows & Anderson can pick up the win here, even if it's just because Roman and Cena no rikey. Back from commercial and Cena's in the ring, hopefully he plays Ricky Morton only for Roman to play Sid Justice and ditch him.

I'd love if this was a make or break moment for Roman. Either they keep doing the same shit with him and he remains being Diesel 2.0... or Roman and the writers step up and make the character as good as the worker.

Because honestly Braun, Finn, AJ, Owens, and Nakamura all seem ready to step up.

The thought of Roman deciding not to give a fuck anymore and channeling Mad Dog Vachon's Prosthetic Leg Diesel kinda makes me giddy.

If Roman ditches Cena, my just now newly minted unrealistic fantasy booking of Roman enlisting G&A; as a new iteration of The Bullet Club might be one step closer to becoming a reality.

EDIT:Aaaaand it's gone. Fuckers.

I started to feel bad for Roman the more Cena kept piling on. Thing is, a lot of what John said was dead on. Cena was fluid as all hell, Roman was still tripping over his words, and Cena caught him and pointed it out. Shiiiiit, Cena even had his very own Punk-esque, "Hey Colt Cabana!" 4TH wall break moment. I GOLLY'd! at that for sure.

Top Dawg in "his" yard simply cannot keep being an uncharismatic wet blanket unless he wants Braun to be THE guy in the not-to-distant future. But, that's the gig and Cena's right for pointing it out. Work, shoot, kayfabe or no, Cena put it out there for Reigns to step up and make a move. He did not make that move.

Good to see Elias X is still feuding with the concept of being in an actual feud.

Honestly, I was just glad that Jerry didn't pull off his shirt and try to wrestle Elias himself. As soon as Elias declared himself the King, I was like "OH NO".

It was a reminder that life is unfair in that "Kevin Dunn will always have a job" type of perverse cosmic unfairness.

I'm not sure of that. If anything there's more to be added by making Bliss a face. If nothing else Sasha's gotta turn heel out of this.

Time for Nia, Alexa, and Sasha to step up...because Asuka is coming.

Eh, you're probably right. I'm just one of the minority who enjoyed seeing Bliss get dropped on her head, so to speak.

Pretty sure Nia's a face and it worked. Shouldn't come as a surprise, as any and all little hints that they've been throwing out there for the past 3 months were met with positive fan reactions.

If anything, I would have been slightly worried that it would backfire after waiting so long. The general consensus on Bliss has changed a ton in those 3 months, and for better or for worse, the male fan base has realized that Alexa possesses all of the sexy. Including the one where she's good at wrestling. She may also have invented an entirely new one we didn't know about previously. She really is quite outstanding. Getting people to boo her will become increasingly difficult, but as of tonight, I think the center will hold for at least a first pass against Nia.

Nice Evolution-dumps-Randall-esque call-back by Nia, too, on the final dumpening of Bliss. Not quite the full thumbs-up morphing into thumbs-down, but the spirit of it was the same.

Also, if this is to play out as a double turn with Sasha, Sasha did her part with the Evil Heel Foreshadowing of Inexplicably Fancy Hair-Do (in this case, tripling her perm-y extensions out of nowhere).

Somehow, I got my lines crossed, and Lesnar WAS there, and Strowman was absent. Sometimes, I really wonder about WWE's fiscal responsibility when they pay Brock to show up and do nothing, and on paper, tonight would be the same..... but man, Brock stealing a mic from Paul to just say, "Suplex City, Bitch," is kinda maybe a little bit worth it.

And it was OK, because no matter what else happened with Brock/Braun, that Cena/Reigns bit was designed to steal the show and get people talking. I'm like most of you, in that I feel that Cena owned Reigns, and Reigns made it worse by legit forgetting his lines in the very segment where Cena was accusing him of being an entirely scripted corporate creation.

The only way Cena could have sent a final nail into that particular coffin was if he had slightly expanding upon the "Why are YOU of all people using the same excuse as everybody else?" thread.... Reigns can't call "backstage clout" when he's the most protected man in recent memory, so Cena really should have busted out, "Man, you gotta be shittin' me, Roman. You're you, and you're busting out the same lame excuses as Simon Gotch and Alex Riley? Unless you want to be working high school gyms and getting paid for shoot tapes, why don't you have some respect for yourself and man up, instead of bitching and moaning like the endless series of never-wasses who play that card?"

I'd have wet myself if Cena had done that masterstroke of a checkmate. But even without it, it was still pretty compelling and a tad more genuine than most of your standard Writer Monkey tripe.

Besides those three things, the only other portion of RAW that registered on my radar was the extra-long Sheamus/Cesaro/Ambrose/Rollins double-header. Really well worked matches, with a nice story and good solid heat..... those four really showed up and earned a paycheck on a night when SOMEbody had to step up and cover for the fact that pretty much everybody else worked in that opening Battle Royale. Gold stars to them!!! gOOld stars, even!!!!!!!!

Cena pretty much pulled the promo equivalent of Shang Tsung tonight and just ripped Reigns' soul out of his body

Yep. The current incarnation of Reigns is officially D.O.A. as of that shellacking by Cena. I don't hate the guy but hopefully this shockwave radiates outward into WWE finally changing him up...somehow. Don't get me wrong, he'll still have good to great hossfests with guys like Joe and Braun. But that was the closest equivalent to Punk's scathing Pipe Bomb promo against Cena himself anyone's pulled off since 2011. No one can legit take him seriously after that, especially if he keeps up with the "my yard" and "I retired the Undertaker" nonsense. Fucking Cena pulled a B-Rabbit out of his hat with the "I haven't headlined WM in five years and I opened SS" stuff and Reigns simply had no response other than to say "bitch" a couple of times.

Cena could have murdered him if he went any further but he chose not to. Roman's simply not, and probably never will be in the same league as Cena on the mic, and that means no Top Dawg status. He is always a step behind with his verbal haymakers like he went to the George Costanza Promo School for Zingers and Witty Rejoinders. Cena, for all the flaws we may find in his character or how annoying he may be at times, is always in the moment, never ever gets flustered, and most importantly has an aura about him that he's at least having fun doing what he's doing. Roman, at any given moment in a major promo, looks like he's about to cry from all the pressure then shit his pants in a desperate attempt to relieve it. One is loose and the other is loose stool.

Supposed eternal empires fall all the time. This one will be no different. Sorry 'bout yer damned luck, Vince. Maybe give that roaring fellow the torch instead.
