Having it be the Heat that they beat to win it all was just bonus. A nice one, mind you. But bonus.

Right there with you, man. I guess you were one of the Reunion Rowdies?

I have to say, before the playoffs started? I wanted the Heat to lose more than I wanted the Mavericks to win, even -- and that's coming from a long-time Mavericks fan. Granted, a Mavericks win would have, by necessity, required a Mavericks loss, so my optimal combination was seeing both--but I never expected to actually see it play out like this.

It was almost like a pro wrestling storyline. (Well, a good one.)

The biggest difference between being "cocky" and being "confident" is how much of a jackass you are while you're expressing it.

Dirk wanting to cry alone and not draw attention to himself > LeBron tweeting it was not his time. Make it your time bitch. LeBron not getting "it" is sad.

You know, I'm kinda torn on this. While I think it wasn't something to be said, I have no problem with him basically thinking, "fuck all the haters that only wanted to see me lose." Actually, that seems like the right overall attitude. I obviously don't know exactly to what extent he was speaking, but I'd like to think that he didn't mean any malice towards the Mavericks' fanbase, who obviously wanted their team to win.

Again, though - just keep your mouth shut and do what you need to do to take that last step next season. Jeez.

Q: why did LeBron skip college?

A: he was afraid of the finals.

Q: Why did LeBron get arrested for petty theft?

A: somebody asked him for change for a dollar and he only gave them three quarters.

I'm not really a Mavs fan but I've always liked Dirk and thought he got a bad rap for losing before on bad teams. I'm really happy he has his ring now (Cuban too. God I wish he had bought the Cubs).

I wonder if part of the issue is Dirk doesn't look like a monster on the court. He doesn't scowl, taunt or dunk that much on people and people seem to expect this from the very best superstars. Somehow though, even on cold shootin nights like the last game he gets it done (21 pts and 11 rebounds).

I'm firmly in the camp that says winning championships is a team effort and shouldn't be that important to judging the individual player but I hope Dirk is now talked about more as
one of the greatest and has finally shed that ridiculous soft tag.

This is one of the better jokes I've seen regarding the Finals:

I AM a Mavs fan, but Dirk is one of those guys I think I'd cheer for even if I wasn't. He's just an all-around awesome dude who hasn't gotten the credit he's deserved for a really, really long time. I'm glad he's getting it now.
