Games You're Currently Playing
Since I've currently got too many games on my plate and wanted to post some thoughts about them without starting a new thread for each (even
though I kinda already have) I figured this could be a place everyone could come and talk about what game(s) they're currently playing, whether
it/they are great, whether it/they suck(s), etc. As most of you know, I've got a PS3 by the way.
For starters, there's the 800-lb. gorilla in my gaming life - Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, which I've been playing for about a
month and am still only a little over 50% done with (though that 50% counts for if I've accomoplished every single feat in the game; not just
finishing the story mode). I'm such an OCD gamer with games like this, I have to finish every single sidequest and try to get everything
perfect so that I get full credit, that I may not ever finish it. Also, I haven't even delved into the game's online mode yet, which I
hear is pretty darn good.
I'm also still playing a lot of online Madden. I'm sure my Madden interest will experience the usual decline after the Super Bowl is
wrapped up though. Still, if I'm sitting at home late at night after one too many cold ones, that is still my go-to game. Though it is losing
some of it's "late-night drunk playing" status to...
Marvel Pinball. My thoughts have been well-documented in the Marvel Pinball thread. Most addictive game I've played in years.
I've also got Pac-Man Championship DX Edition, which I've barely touched due to my Marvel Pinball addiction. I figure I've got it
on the shelf for a rainy day.
Now we get to where my gaming has really gone overboard because, in addition to that roster of games, I went out and bought NBA 2K11 and Dead Space 2
last week.
I've started delving into NBA 2K11 some but I know I need to finish AC: Brotherhood before I even think about jumping into Dead Space 2, which
means Dead Space 3 might be coming out by the time I manage to do that.
So many games, so little time. And yes, I do have a life. Which is getting less and less attention due to my crippling addiction. They are just
making games too good nowadays.

I've got two modes of gameplay: Co-op/split screen with my 11 year old, and then solo campaign.
For co-op/split screen it's all about Borderlands right now and has been for the past few months. We finished playthrough 1 a few weeks back
and are now cycling through the dlc. Knocked off Zombie Island this past weekend and started Secret Armory. Will do Claptrap's Revolution once
we finish that. From there who knows....playthrough 2? Finish Gears 1 and then replay Gears 2 to get ready for 3?
For solo campaign I'm doing Bioshock 1. Yes out of order. But having fun nonetheless. I had started Alan Wake and still need to knock that
one off but Bioshock had to come first.

I'm re-doing Red Dead Redemption, GTA IV and just finished Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. Just kinda biding my time until Fight Night
Champion comes out. I'm also debating on NBA 2K11 and DC Universe Online.
Of course I play at least a game or two of Madden a day.

Good thread idea.
Just beat Spiderman Shattered Dimensions last weekend. Fun game with a lot of great ideas, but it did get repetitive. If they make solid
improvements than a sequel could be pretty epic.
I briefly toyed with getting into Fable 2 but after playing for an hour I started playing Oblivion again. Hadn't pick up this game in 2 years,
but I remember why it so dominated my life. I started playing it a stop gap before Dragon Age II, but I'm completely hooked again.
Also just started Donkey Kong Country Returns last week and will be playing that for a while.

I went on a binge of older games at Christmas, the ones that I realized I always wanted to play and didn't get around to. Metal Gear Solid 4,
Rainbow 6 Vegas 2, Fight Night 4 and Assassin's Creed 2 (which I still haven't gotten around to putting in, but finished MGS4 and R6V2).
Also can't go more than a week without getting into FIFA ('10 though, I don't feel the need to upgrade that game yearly) and Madden
again. Last week I played out Heavy Rain, which was a lot of fun. And I still put in EA MMA occasionally. There's not really much upcoming
that I'm crazy about, so I will try and not buy any new games for a few months (I have an addiction, I have probably 40-50 PS3 games, many of
which I've never even put into my system, so I'll try and run through what I have before getting new ones). I also want to get back into
NHL '10 (another game I have no desire to upgrade annually). But then I see a thread about NBA 2K11 and it makes me want it. I also bought a
Wii at Christmas, not sure why because in over a month I've probably logged 20 minutes on it, and don't really ever want to play it
again.
Sometimes I think I just hate money. I've decided that no matter how much I make, I'm going to spend it all, whether I need to or not,
which probably isn't the best personality for someone who advises people what to do with their money. I just hope I die before I'm 60 so
I don't have to feel bad for not having a retirement fund.

I have been playing DC Universe Online almost non stop sense I got it for my birthday. It is without a doubt the most action filled MMO game I have
ever played, blows guild wars out of the water. Other than that, i've been playing Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock, but only the drum parts,
i'm not even sure what I did with the guitar. Also i've been revisiting Dragon Age Origins, to hype myself up for DA2.
I remember Lucky Lopez.

My list of games I'm currently playing is always kind of wacky (especially compared with the generally heavy PS3/360 set here), as I'm
usually always playing something old on the Wii's Virtual Console and like my brother, will wait for games to go down in price instead of
picking them up brand new in most cases. So with that said, what I'm currently playing:
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii): I actually just got done with this recently, but thought I'd include it since it's been less than a
week or so. Absolutely awesome game, but I gave up trying to go back and find every KONG letter and puzzle piece by about the third world (since some
of those levels can be damn hard). I could definitely see myself dusting this game off and trying again somewhere down the road though.
Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (Wii): This is the remake of the original Silent Hill that came out on the Wii and PS2 a little ways back. I'd
had my eye on it for a while and was lucky enough to find one copy left on clearance at Best Buy for $15.99. I've never played much of the
original, so I don't know how much was changed with the remake, but I've really been enjoying it so far. Lots of great eerie atmosphere
and the flashlight controls are pretty much tailor-made for the Wii. And this is about as opposite of DKCR as you can get.
Ys Book I and II (Wii Virtual Console): This is my current old school game, as I'd never played any of the Ys games before (this happens to be
the TurboGrafx CD version, which makes for some absolutely awesome music and even some voice acting here and there). This has been a multi-month
endeavor for me and has required lots of trips to Gamefaqs, as like a lot of old school adventure RPGs, it's sometimes not exactly clear what
you're supposed to do next. Sadly, I'm getting kind of tempted to quit the game for now, as I'm at a part towards the end where you
have to do a lot of aimless wandering around this huge dungeon-type area, just kind of hoping to stumble across the right place you need to go next
(which gets frustrating with no map or anything).
Guitar Hero: Warriors Of Rock (PS3): My girlfriend and I recently moved out of our longtime apartment and into a house, so I said dammit, we're
getting Guitar Hero since we can be as loud as we want now. I probably would have gotten Rock Band, but there was something about the Guitar Hero
drums (complete with cymbals) that intrigued me. We've been having a lot of fun with it, with her always playing guitar and me alternating
between drums and vocals.
Marvel Pinball (PS3): This game has it's own thread here, but it's just as much fun and addictive as everyone says. My current late-night
drunk game. I'm slowly but surely getting better at it, but still have a ways to go before I challenge my brother the gooker's top scores.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma (PS3): Haven't actually started a game in this yet, but just picked this up used for $12.99 at GameStop. Hope to start this
one in the near future.

Right now I'm still playing an unholy amount of CoD Black Ops and Pacman CE DX, with a sprinkling of Dragon Age, Marvel Pinball, Smackdown 2011,
and Rock Band 3 mixed in.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 hits on the 15th and that will cut into my CoD time pretty severely for awhile. Trying to talk myself out of Bulletstorm, but the
demo was really fun so I might pick that up, too

Pacman CE DX, Marvel Pinball,
We really are brothers from another system.
I played a buddy of mine online last night who just got Madden '11. His favorite team is the Eagles so he picked them and, to give him a
chance, I picked my favorite team (and worst team in the league) the Panthers. I've played 70+ games, he had played 0. He beat me 15-7. That
game is very accurate. Also, the reason he had 15 is because he got a safety on me as I was trying to run the Panthers' woefully inept offense.

I just bought Costume Quest and Hoard on PSN, so I've been playing those recently. Costume Quest is really fun, but it is a little to open and
hard to find objectives for as "simple" as it looks. Hoard is a blast. I haven't played it online yet, but the single player is really fun,
burning towns and capturing princesses. I just finished AC:Brotherhood, and I have Little Big Planet 2 on deck. I think I'm going to have to
stop buying retail games for a while, so I can catch up on my backlog.
I also want to recommend Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit. It's just another Burnout game, and just as fun. Unlocking cars is easy, and the online
works well.

This is one I was gonna list, too. I finally leveled my Racer up to 20, so I've been trying to go back and do the Cop missions as well...
I'm up to level 16 for that. Great game, it's very addicting.
Like Bones, I have quite a few games that have been sitting on my shelf for a few years unplayed. Just over the weekend I popped in Silent Hill
Homecoming, and it was pretty fun so I'll keep playing that on and off along with my third playthrough of Dragon Age.
Is everyone mad here?

Shao, what did you think of Spiderman?
Personally, I thought the Noir "episodes" could've been a lot less linear but had some really brutal looking & sounding takedowns. I
wasn't really too impressed with the 2099 episodes for some reason. The only stage that really drove me insane was Deadpool's (go figure)
in the Ultimate universe - right now I'm just playing through again to complete the web of destiny.
I liked that they used Spider-Man voices all the way from the "Amazing Friends" era until now - kind of a cool little bit of nostalgia. It DOES get
repetitive fairly easily and like I said the linear nature of a lot of the levels does make it a bit boring in stretches. I DO like the W.O.D.
challenges, but having to go through some of them gets a little harrowing at times - especially in 2099 where you have to freefall through the pillars
without getting touched. That one's a little difficult because the freefall controls can be a little wonky at times. Other than that, I was
pretty impressed with it. Of course ANY game that features the Juggernaut automatically gets points in my book. I agree with you though; a few more
improvements (especially with controls) and a sequel would be well worth the money.
ETA: Goon, prepare for some frustrating moments with NGS - there are some badass fights in there, but one particular boss (can't remember his
name, but he wears a hat, glasses & trench coat - one of the main characters) is just a straight pain to beat.

Costume Quest was really a terrific little gem of a game, and anybody who overlooked it should pick it up sometime- preferably if you can catch it
marked down a bit. I agree with what murgen said here- not a perfect game at all, but definitely one that will be in rotation every Halloween and I
really hope it gets a sequel or some more DLC or something. A trick or treating RPG is something that I would have happily bought on disc, so if they
want to expand it somehow I'm on board with that.

Yeah, I've definitely heard about the difficulty level (going back to when the game was on Xbox), so I'm mentally prepared for it. I
think.

I finally bested Fallout 3 this week, including Point Lookout and Broken Steel, and have gotten three hours into New Vegas. I'm balancing that
with CoD: Blops multiplayer, Epic Mickey and Pokemon Black (Japanese version). I just made my move back to Boston from LA so I haven't really
had a ton of time the last few weeks to game (or post, for that matter) so I'll be diving further into New Vegas, restarting Epic Mickey,
finishing Pokemon Black and posting thoughts 'bout them all here later on.

Has anyone on here played dead space 2? Out of principle, I can't rationalize buying games for $60 when they come out, but I assume will be on
sale soon. The previews look great, but wanted to see if anyone had played and the game lived up to the hype.
Lost about 2 weeks of my life playing AC Brotherhood, and like Drift, about to open Fallout New Vegas. Have to try Deadrising 2 again; played that
before AC Brotherhood, and just couldn't get that into it, but probably worth another try.

I'm tellin' ya bro - switch to "Multiple D" defensive playbook - and a money defensive formation ESPECIALLY for Michael Vick &
The Eagles is the Dollar formation DE Contain. If you have time, manually press cover the receivers but make sure you user press the RB with
your ROLB. The MLB will spy the QB and after the DE's run their contain on the line, if it's a pass (more than likely the person
you're playing will scramble out of the pocket w/Vick) they shoot straight for the QB. My advice is manually use the NT on the D line to run a
"capture" on the QB; this way you have Vick covered - pressing the receivers will give you a good chance for a pick.
Also - if I were you, I'd mess around with the "Run n' Gun" offensive playbook. Reason being that a shitload of people use a lot of OLB
blitzes while crashing the D line to the middle to bring extra pressure on your QB. Using RNG I form, there's a RB angle route where the back
can't be pressed and if you time the throw on that angle D'Angelo Williams can turn it into a huge gain. I swear, I've run that play
from the 1 and scored on it several times. Get at me if you wanna practice sometime and we can do some unranked games.
