Well, um, this is certainly DIFFERENT.

So, I'm not really on board with this whole walkout angle, but damn if that wasn't an entertaining opening on every level.
I'm a really big fan of "meta," which is why I was so completely geeked out by the Punk "shoot" and everything that followed. Obviously,
this is not a template that can be strictly followed for any period of time. By its very nature, a "meta" storyline has to resolve itself, or the
damn thing will end up eating itself. But I gotta say, as disappointed as I've been at times with some of the things WWE has done since ...
Wait a minute. Goddamn it. Vince just walked out in the middle of the match. Suck is bound to happen at any second.

So basically, to sum up the first 45 minutes of Raw:
The "walkout" is already over, and everything is back to normal, except that we now have a heel GM who'll almost certainly be feuding with HHH
in a story that will make us long for the days of various McMahon vs McMahon feuds.
In short, WWE took the "lame, but at least something different and unique" ending from last week and made it infinitely more lame, but not at all
different or unique.

Well, that was almost interesting for about 20 minutes (although Punk's promo was the only one that didn't paint the speaker as a complete
tool bag)... and now we're back to the old heel GM formula for the umpteenth time.
Plus a change, plus c'est la mme chose.

Yeah, as a fan on the complete opposite of the wrestling spectrum from you. I agree. This one's heading towards the worst Raw's ever
pile.
Only good so far has been non-Raw focused: They're gonna keep Christian/Ziggler/Rhodes/Swagger together as a loose group and Rhodes looks like
he's moving up to a feud with Orton. Everything else has been pretty boring and non-earth shattering as they could have made it.
And that's it. Last 40 minutes are gonna need a big improvement.
[edit] And for the 100,000th time, I'm sure they never told J.R. what horrible thing was about to happen to him and embarressed him again.
Wonderful.

Awesome, Mason Ryan almost certainly just stole Ryder's US Title push by pinning Dolph just now. Who cares who is more over and has charisma...
Mason has big muscles.

So ... HHH is kicked out of whatever part of his job it mysteriously was that made him the de facto RAW general manager because a lot of people walked
out ...
And later, Super Dave reinstates Miz and R-Truth. Miz and R-Truth attacked referees and what not, and were the ONLY reason all the refs and, I guess,
the camera men and assorted other ringside idiots walked out. But all those refs and idiots are suddenly totally cool with Miz and R-Truth being back
in a position to attack them and whatnot. That's some first class internal logic there, writer monkeys.
Also, did anyone else notice when Alberto walked in, the front of his title belt was basically just resting on top of his dick?

So...
Cena/ADR
Henry/Show
Ziggler/Ryan
Orton/Rhodes
...and Truth-Miz/Punk-HHH? for Vengence? Different...not sure exciting.
Wonder if Bourne's alright. Swagger killed him.
[Edit] Guess you can erase the ? from the tag match above. I hate that Punk and HHH are now friendly...but if that's the main event over either
title match, I'm good with that part of it.
And HHH with a new shirt? It's almost if they knew he was going to be wrestling again soon? Nah!

The return of Miz/Truth and subsequent performance of "You Suck!" improved this show by 25%.
EDIT - I would love to hear what, if any, post-show in-ring promos/shenanigans might have taken place between HHH and Punk. I could picture those two
just BS'ing and having a good time for the live crowd after the cameras stop rolling.

This was seriously like the episode of South Park last week where at the very end Randy drives up and says, "Well, everything's back to
normal!"
Also, I was hoping for the Raw GM Computer to send a woeful, "What about me?" message.

I feel bad for the one guy sitting right by the entrance aisle who made the "# occupy RAW" sign. He bit on the 'E's attempt at viral

the ONLY way they can save this is if Vengeance ends with Punk, Miz and Truth beating the shit out of HHH. Otherwise, the last three months have been
pretty pointless

I don't agree, mhj. I've been pretty critical of some of the turns the WWE has taken since the Punk angle broke. And, in fact, I'm
pretty much of the opinion that what's been done with the whole walkout angle can't be saved no matter what happens going forward, because
the walkout angle seriously violates the internal logic of the history of the WWE. Hell, it violated the internal logic of the product just within
tonight's show. Kofi and Evan walked out, and were boo'ed, and now here they come back and everyone's cheering for them again. The
walkout angle is fucked, plain and simple.
There are several ways to clean this shit up, and #1 on the list is just pretending that the walkout never happened, and Super Dave just took control
away from HHH. And it seems like that's what's happening.
Following that, though, I'm not at all unhappy about the idea of a Punk/HHH vs. the McMahons angle. At the end of the day, the idea that this is
all some brilliant master plan by Punk is pretty interesting, but I also think it's a little too convoluted and complicated for a
wrasslin' story line.

but didn't they really build that Punk and HHH legit didn't like one another? And now, for no real reason whatsoever, they are
buddies? That makes less sense than the whole walkout

I was hoping that after Vince announced Johnny Ace was in control, the "WWE Universe" would walk out and hold vigil in the parking lot.
So much was wrong in the logic tonight. The main thing being JR's firing. Johnny Ace could have been more heelish by just saying "I took your
job, I don't like you, you're fired" instead of saying "I'm only firing you because you did what everyone else did." I think the
WWE brain-trust thought the Oklahoma crowd would bring more heat to firing JR then it did. But the logic/contradiction is just terrible, even for a
wrestling show.
I really wish the start of Raw had gone on longer, instead of the inane Kelly Kelly screaming, Brodus Clay vignette and another terrible WWE movie
trailer. The beginning of the show was fun, and even had HHH burying the rest of the locker room again with his "wrestling a broom" comment. And
anytime you could have Punk doing commentary is a plus, but we didn't even get much of that.
I have no interest in even streaming Vengeance, and even though we all knew where the story was going, unless we get Mick Foley as new GM, I see no
good way this will end. The logic holes & contradictions were just really distracting me too much. This weeks Raw didn't have that "I want to
see how they handle this next week!" feel for me like last week.
First 20 minutes of Raw= 5 stars
The rest of Raw= -5
I will give them +1 for bringing back Miz & Truth, only it wasn't that exciting of a way to do it. I would have had them do the run-in to later
be revealed they were actualy hired back. And also a +1 for not having Cena come out to save Punk, which is what I was expecting.

Well, again citing internal logic, there have been more instances than I could ever remember where two people who "legit" didn't like each
other teamed up to take on a bigger threat.

HHH's "wrestling a broom" comment was definitely the highlight of the night.
Also, FUCK and YES to getting Foley back to be the GM of RAW. I don't care how they do it. Just get Foley back on my television on Monday
nights, and I will he a happy person.

In a revelation that will surely surprise nobody, I didn't hate this show near as much as you guys seem to. I mean, it wasn't great or
even good and I'm also disappointed that things seem to be going back to the pre-summer status quo, but on the other hand there were some a few
nice touches, like the non-walkout faces describing why they were there coherently and logically, most of the walkout crew wearing street clothes,
Lawler pointing out Cole's blatant mistakes and hypocrisy a little more than usual, etc. I don't want to say I was digging the show, but I
wasn't unhappy with it until the end. Funkhauser icing the Punk-ADR match to bring back the Awesome Truth felt really forced and inorganic, and
I think they made a mistake bringing those two back so soon.
Other thoughts:
- I really thought when Funkhauser fired Jim Ross that the show was going to end with J.R. getting the permanent full-time Raw GM gig. I'm still
wondering if that's how the angle might end.
- JoMo got pinned by a spear. He really is in deep shit, isn't he?
- Can someone please tell Kelly Kelly that she can express rage without screaming like a fucking banshee? It's really annoying. Also, if
somebody actually taught Eve how to wrestle, she might be pretty good. She's a very athletic kid, she just doesn't look like she knows
what the hell she's doing.

I'm really, really glad that 15 years ago, Eric Bischoff didn't look at Scott Hall and Kevin Nash and say, "You know what would make this
angle even HOTTER? A vote of non-confidence, followed by a walk-out, then installing myself as the heel authority figure!"
I'm usually not super-high or super-down on Raw most weeks, but these last two weeks have been frustrating and illogical to the nth degree. The
summer started with such promise, and now, it all seems so long ago.
