He is an asshole. I lived in his district and he won against a weak Democratic Congresswoman (who was once described as the dumbest person in
Congress) when my neighbor (the green party candidate) siphoned off about 4% of the vote (it was the difference). My neighbor was unapologetic.
Walsh lasted one term and lost in a new Congressional district (redistricting after the 2010 census). He is pretty universally hated by Republicans,
was a rare member of Congress that had his pay taken away for backed child support and now has an obnoxious radio show on the Chicago conservative
talk station. He offers nothing but obnoxious and useless rhetoric. I'd be happy if he was shit-canned.

There are multiple reports, some contradict others.... I have heard 7,8,9 victims, 1 critical. A SUV drove into the Engineering building and might
have caused a chlorine gas leak. Knives, machetes, and/or guns were used. One suspect dead, two more in custody.
Just wait and give the news outlets 24 hours to get an official story, then 25 hours for the conspiracy shit to start.... oh wait, it already has.
ETA: CNN is reporting as of 1:07pm that 10 victims and the guy was wielding a butcher knife.

the hallmarks of another Muslim terror attack.

Also, I don't get Facebook with shit like this. Half my friends were "checking in safe" during "The Violent Incident in Columbus". People
that literally live hundreds of miles away were checking in as safe...?
And folks are sharing the photo of the cop that killed the knife guy, and declaring him a hero. Great way to expose his identity to crazed radicals,
guys. Great fucking job. And no, he's not a hero. He's a cop and he did his job correctly. It's a hard job and the stress he was
under must have been hard to imagine, but he's still just a guy like you and me.

And what is not being discussed (that makes him a hero) is that when he arrived at the scene, he told him to drop the knife and get on the ground, and
once he didn't and continued his attack the cop shot him. Apparently it is possible to talk to a black guy before shooting him, obviously he
never worked in Cleveland.

I was referencing Tamir Rice, but point taken.
File this under unsubstantiated (for now I will try to investigate further), the differing reports on the number of victims might have something to do
with this... My wife was at OSU (at the hospital taking a class) on that day, and she was able to talk to her teacher today about the attack (her
class is Mon and Wed) and not surprisingly her teacher knows one of the victim who almost had his thumb severed. But the story is, it wasn't
one shot, one kill from the campus police officer, apparently there were multiple victims (innocent bystanders) that were shot by the officer besides
the attacker. Obviously the school and police are trying to keep this quiet (if true) but it would hurt also hurt the narrative about if everyone was
armed people would be safer.

I think you took liberty with the bystander statement. The report only says she was "shot in the foot". My thought is ricochet or a continuing
bullet. I'd not call either of those "by officer" although the bullet likely came from his weapon. It's splitting hairs, but the words
change what may be interpreted as intent.

One sound intentional, one sounds reckless and one sounds accidental. I didn't see anything clarifying how the foot was shot. But I
digress!
Chest and head injuries after ignoring the command is what triggered my original post. I mentioned the Israeli type response because it is a
radically different approach than what Europe or North America have experienced. It is not pretty, nor warm & fuzzy. I have had just enough exposure
to it via some business continuity stuff about 20 years ago to be aware, not an expert.
What I remember is Individual responders are trained to charge the target, command while moving into close range, body shot to stun, head shots to
eliminate. The action is to minimize suicide bomber activation. This cop seemed to behave as if that was how he was trained.
The videos on this aspect of the program were pretty disturbing, focusing more on those responders that were unsuccessful in executing the technique
and the aftermath. (There's a whole social discussion around how those videos affect the individuals being trained, the recruiting process and
extension to the individual's families. I'll sum my thoughts at the time to "this is fucked up.")
As an aside, I was also disturbed by the continuity videos. There was a neighborhood grocery store where an attacker was successful in detonating at
the storefront. IIRC, the investigation thru rebuild took something like 48-72 hours and the store reopened with no indication something had
happened.
The disturbing part, for me, was how the culture balanced respect of the dead vs. mental well being of society (my editorial not something they
discussed).
