2016 Mass Shooting Thread
It's sad that a thread like this could be necessary, but if 2016 is anything like 2015 was, it will be. We can only hope that this thread
doesn't get a lot of action. I'm not going to pin this to the top because that's another level of depressing. Just bump it if
something happens.
This is for "mass" shootings, so a guy offing his girlfriend or a cop murdering a civilian doesn't qualify. The term is a loose one;
apparently the FBI acknowledges any shooting in which at least four people (other than the shooter) are killed as being a mass shooting. Gang
shootings probably shouldn't qualify here, either. If something happens that you think qualifies, don't hesitate to post it here.

I mentioned in the other mass shootings thread that I wouldn't be surprised if something happened at some theater on the opening night of the
new Star Wars, so I'm really, really glad that didn't happen. With that said, it does just feel kind of like a waiting game until
the next one happens and it's kind of morbid to think about how many mass shootings we will have discussed this time next year.
Nash is only a few inches bigger than JBL and depending on how stiff he gets Punk should be able to take it. -JB King, meant in a totally non-sexual

some less. Personally, I count four shot (besides shooter), however it has gotten to the point that unless there are mass deaths or a difference in
race, it will go mostly unreported nationally in the media.

I understand the comparison you're trying to make, so this is just me being picky, but I think the reason most people will eat tuna but not
dolphins is because tuna are fish and considered to be "less intelligent" whereas dolphins are mammals and considered to be about as intelligent as
young humans. This is assuming you meant the mammal dolphins and not the fish dolphins, because people do eat the fish dolphins.

altogether and plow it into firearms and other weapons manufacturers. It'd be a bonanza for your retirement savings as big as it turned out for
anyone who invested in IBM back in the 1950's.
The less funny part is that any chance for realistic gun control is long gone. If the government, that can't even bring itself to confront those
bozos that took over the bird sanctuary in Oregon because they don't want to give them a chance at martyrdom, even made an attempt at
confiscation it would be the catalyst for your next civil war. There's simply too many firearms and too much ammunition in the hands of private
individuals now. Most of these clowns that have stockpiled them are idiots, more likely to shoot themselves or their own kids by accident than they
are to draw down on a trained FBI or ATF agent. That being said there's also a hell of a lot of them that will actually know what they're
doing. They're not stupid enough to expose themselves by teaming up with the likes of Ammon Bundy. They're just biding their time,
training at the rifle range, and keeping quiet at home until the time comes. These are the dangerous ones because they're smart enough to keep
quiet and off the government's radar. Give them an excuse to strike, like with some half-witted confiscation scheme that some liberals would
want to happen, and they're the ones that will trigger a bloodbath. They might be only one out of twenty, or one out of fifty, but in a country
with over 300 million firearms (that they know of) in private hands that's more than enough to set off a legitimately threatening insurrection.
This is the one that everyone still sane can have a good solid laugh at, because they deserve nothing but mockery.
This is the one that you underestimate at your own peril, because he's the one that's going to produce a significant body count.
He's not an inept clown either, and he knows exactly what he's doing and how to do it.
It's almost pointless to keep having these kind of discussions because realistically there is no possible solution to it. The guns have been
sold to people so stupid they shouldn't even be allowed to vote, the conspiracies and paranoid fear have been disseminated, and the
money's been made off of all of it. Learning to live with it, and hope that a better and much smarter generation eventually comes along that
doesn't behave this way, is the only logical thing to do anymore.

I'm not a gun owner. I believe gun ownership is a Constitutional right. But, like so much constitutional interpretation, the framers couldnt

It should simply be like driving. You have to renew every so often and prove you're mentally and physically able to use a firearm. Have to pass
tests showing you fully understand how to care and clean every part of the weapon, how to store, how to hold it, and have shooting range testing.
And no more high capacity clips or "drums" unless you pass extra tests and registration, and the state can determine you're not like a fucking
lunatic.
And the refrain "bad guys don't follow the law, so they'll get guns other ways" is a crock of shit. Finding an illegal gun is way more
difficult than simply buying one at WalMart. Imagine this dumb fuck trying to obtain an illegal firearm in Detroit... yea, that's not gonna be
so easy for him...

I've been thinking about that argument more lately and it's funny how it really only applies to gun rights. No Republican says "women are

In Missouri you have to take a vision test and road sign test when you renew so it's something anyway.
Concerning guns I've always been off the opinion that while the Constitution says you have the right to have a gun it doesn't say what
kind of gun. Banning semi-automatics isn't going to deprive anyone of being able to have their hunting rifle. It's much like the
Republican abortion argument that I support that you shouldn't be able to get one past a certain term and there should be a process to go
through before you get one.
