"British" can be kind of a weird term when said to someone who is actually from the UK just an FYI. A lot of people would rather be associated with
the country within the UK that they hail from due to the whole centuries of war and oppression thing.
Anyone with a right mind probably doesn't give a shit but, it can put people's nose out of joint, we house a lot of nutters...
Oh, and, for the most part: God forbid you call an Irishman British.

Ulstermen get pissed off big time if you call them Irish. Catholic Irish in the North can lose it if you call them British. One of the nastiest
blackhearts I ever met in my whole life was a Northern proddy that fled to Canada after he ended up on a wanted list back in Belfast for doing
something nasty during the Troubles. Not going to condemn the whole group because of one guy but it made me a little more aware of the Catholic
perspective. I figured if this guy and his friends back home were that unpleasant it didn't reflect very well on their community in general.
The Scots and Welsh complain about how bad the English treated them over the years but they generally don't want to talk about how easily their
own old kings, chiefs, and landowners sold them out to the English crown in order to steal everything they could from their own people. Upper-class
English are twats in general but that's true of rich people everywhere on the planet. Just from watching the antics of the Wall Street types
over the years I figure the neo-aristocracy of the American financial sector is just as bad and vicious as any nobility anywhere else has ever been.
Seriously, as soon as someone acquires a certain amount of money it's inevitable that they turn into an inhumane bullying cunt, and that applies
as much as if they actually made it on their own as it does if they inherited it over the generations.

Northern Ireland is itself a country that's part of the UK, Eire/Republic of Ireland is what's generally called "Ireland" and most
definitely is not part of the UK.
It's confusing I know but there's a whole can of religious worms in the NI/Ireland debate that's highly likely to provoke an
argument with the wrong person.
