OOfficial Discussion Thread for: RAW (May 30, 2016)

Tonight on RAW: WWE sure seems to be amping up the sizzle factor, no doubt hoping to offset the decline in viewership that seems to take place on holiday weekends (to say nothing of being up against Game 7 of the NBA Western Conference Finals)... myself, I've got a social commitment kicking off in about an hour, so I'll keep this short...

The next PPV is Money in the Bank, and by and large it's gonna be sold on two matches/stories: Seth Rollins' return to challenge WWE Champ Roman Reigns, and the 7-man MitB Ladder Match... it'll be interesting to see if WWE gives away any in-ring Rollins action before the PPV, because that would definitely be a ratings booster, too... as far as MitB goes, 6 men are qualified, and there is ample existing bad blood among them to do various iterations of singles and tag matches... additionally, WWE has promised that the final qualifying match will take place tonight...

Besides those two major issues leading us to the PPV, tonight also has an air of mystery to it... we know John Cena is set to return to action, but we aren't exactly sure what he'll be doing; going after Rusev and the US Title would make sense, but with talk of the new brand split and Cena headlining SD, a secondary title may not be his play... also, Bray Wyatt laid the foundation for a possible debut of Sister Abigail, either tonight, or in the near future.... and WWE has posted a series of cryptic "Hatch" photos, showing something or someone being extracted from a shed in the woods; whatever this is, WWE promises it will be revealed tonight on RAW...

We also know two matches slated for this evening: Enzo and Cass take on the Dudley Boyz, and Dolph Ziggler faces Baron Corbin, allegedly in a Technical Wrestling Match...

That is all. End communication....

The flOOr is yours, OO Nation. Don't wait till after 11pm to post, either. Pre-show previewing and prognosticating is certainly welcome. So discuss, debate, and rate!

C'mon now Green Bay, don't flake out on 'Murica Day.

ETA: This is amazetarded. Between Steph's legs and Big E's "Hodor" reference, this show has already exceed my expectations for the opening promo. Heh, "between".

Damn good to see how comfortable every member of the New Day is on the mic. Especially Kofi.

The crowd seems partially comatose? I can't tell if this is one of those "sit silently and observe things" crowds or "we're fucking bored with this, regardless of the quality" crowds.

Hard to tell what the crowds deal is quite yet, but one things for sure: starting off the show with a meandering informercial for Smackdown moving to Tuesdays and the impending draft without providing ANY information was a boneheaded move. I like The New Day as much as the next guy but even they couldn't save that mess. I was very happy to see the Vaudevillains show up.

Ah yes, one of my favorite things in wrestling. I don't pay attention during an entrance, and then find out that despite getting a more or less full entrance the person(s) simply ended up on commentary.

With the sniper logo, is WWE finally ready for Seth to start calling his top rope temple kick something sinister as the finisher it deserves to be? Kill Shot. Sniper Fire? Heck, you could even call it SnipeR with the SR.

Rollins went Jericho tonight and it was just as dumb now as it was then.

My god, the tension...

ETA: At least Orton would have given us something amusing to eye roll at.

I'm going to err on the side of caution and assume that WWE decided to not try all that hard to make tonight matter too much.

Also WOO, Mystery Hatch Mystery is solved! And probably thankfully not handled the same way they announced Sting as preorder DLC for last year's game.

Did Lana's accent drop out giving Rusev's intro?

I know I'm in the small minority, but I would love to see one more Goldberg match. His ring entrance was always electric.

I like to think that Seth is taking it as a personal challenge to try to maximize his boos and minimize Reigns' boos (which is basically impossible but he's sure doing his damndest to get booed which I figure will all be thrown out the window anyway when they actually wrestle and the crowd is 100% pro-Rollins).

Yes it did. It was horrible. I like Rusev's modification on his finisher pulling his opponent all the way back.

ETA: Can't spell Titus without U.S.! My man! I believe I called for this last year.

I'm kind of sad that I came back to Rusev's win, didn't know who he had faced, and made a random guess that he'd probably squashed Ryder only to have it confirmed. But hey, he got on Raw again!

Was hoping the Hatch was going to open and reveal who was behind G-TV.

Instead it was just Goldberg

Hey...wait...G-TV...Goldberg...

I am going to go ahead and consider that hole filled from 20 years ago.

Yeah, that finisher looked legit nasty. Ouch. Thanks, for playing Zack.

Also, TITUS!!!

They missed out on the opportunity to bring Titus back with a gimmick where he has a fear of touching other people, so he loses a lot, but then slowly conquers his fears. And then it's revealed that he was behind Vince's limo exploding years ago, because he stole New Day's time machine to get his revenge.
