OOfficial Discussion Thread for: RAW (April 3, 2017)
Tonight on RAW: it's the annual Parade of the Self-Involved Traveling Wanker Brigade!!!!!
A/k/a The RAW After WrestleMania, where the wealthier and/or most obsessive of the Learned Wrestling Fans do all kinds of wacky chanting and rebelling
against WWE's proscribed intentions, to become a genuine Part Of The Show to the point that even WWE admits there's no point ignoring
them....
So the question becomes: while the announcers will acknowledge the various bits of creative insubordination, will the creative team be giving us a
night of action that keeps the worst of it at bay?
I think a big part of that is whether we just saw a for-real heel turn by Roman Reigns, or whether WWE thinks he's already at Cena Status.....
all while forgetting that Cena ACTUALLY DID THE REQUIRED FULL TIME HEEL TURN before emerging as a controvers-a-face, which Reigns has still not yet
done, which is crazy as we approach nearly 2 years of him having been exposed as Not That Guy.... most great faces do that big heel singles run that
is so good, it tricks fans into cheering, but for reasons unexplained, WWE has stubbornly refused to let Reigns do that part, and thus, that's
why you just don't have any buy-in from fans who are over the age of 10....
Retiring the Undertaker and being a dick about it practically writes itself.... so it's either that, or he comes out and kisses Taker's
ass, and people shit all over him, anyway...
Hard reset on the WWE Title.... by all accounts, Goldberg's not even gonna be at the show tonight.... so the question is "Will Lesnar compete
again in a few weeks to cement his new status as champ, or is he just going away against till SummerSlam?".... if the former, a new challenger must
emerge sooner than later (Rollins might be a good choice, since HHH can save the rematch, and a still-less-than-100% Rollins "forced" into a title
match is a good story that ALSO saves a Rollins/Lesnar rematch for down the road; but then again, Rollins doubling back to re-do the feud with Joe
would also rule)...
If the latter, then look for Owens vs. Jericho to really shine as the top story between now and the next RAWsclusive PPV.... Jericho will almost
assuredly take his obligatory IC Title rematch there, but then, he's scheduled to take most of May and June off for Fozzy Duties, before
potentially returning as a mostly-full-time guy, if it amuses him....
Tag division is smokin' hot, all of a sudden, with Anderson & Gallows as the besmirched ex-champs, Cesaro & Sheamus finally clicking as a true
team, Enzo & Cass providing entertainment value, the New Day, ummmm, also providing entertainment value, and the Hardys holding the gold against all
odds.... sign me up for whatever comes of all that!
Bayley held onto the Women's Title last night, and I'd look for Nia to emerge as the new #1 contender in the short term.... Nia alone can
claim she wasn't REALLY beat last night, since it was 3-on-1, giving Bayley something to do until they can properly build up a feud against
Sasha...
RAW After Mania is also well known for call-ups/returns/debuts... most signs point to Nakamura on SmackDown, but who knows? Shelton Benjamin is also
healed up and ready to go, but again, he was hyped for SD before his injury.... so that leaves us with Finn Balor as tonight's most likely
surprise appearance... could he be somebody who'd just show up and instantly challenge Lesnar? He did give up the WWEU Title after just one day,
due to injury, so as a one-off challenger, he works perfectly, too...
A new General Manager is the other big thing that I figure has to get addressed tonight... and I'm not telling you anything you don't know
if I mention Kurt Angle's name here... but just because it's so widely circulated as a possibility, I'd almost suspect WWE has a
swerve in mind... we'll see...
Should be a fun 3 hours, with plenty of checking on Gonzaga's status providing the one and only flip-to any of us should need during commercial
breaks.... I'm hunkering down in Full Cocktail Mode for this one, kids....

Owens also has his rematch for losing the Universal Title to Goldberg, which he referenced as putting on hold while he dealt with Jericho. I wonder
if that will be 'forgotten' (dropped altogether), or if it pops up anytime in the near future as a mini arc w/ now-champion Brock.
Or hell - have someone challenge him for his rematch, win, and there ya go. A returning Balor vs. Owens for the right to a 'rematch'
since both technically have a claim to one.

There's something magical about sticking Giant Gonzalez into that video package. Ah, the good ole days. I guess say what you will about Reigns,
but at least he's not a big dude in an airbrushed muscle suit. Or is that better in this case?
Also, a beautiful tribute to Taker with this crowd chant. That has slowly morphed into a more dominant ROMAN SUCKS. Brings a tear to my eye.

That was one of the smoothest chant-transitions I've ever seen, without somebody leading them on the microphone. 
Also, is red a heel-turn indicator? Or has BrocktOOn (see what i did with the capital letters there? It spells BOO!) been wearing red and I just
didn't give enough shits to notice before now?
