He had surgery to pull his teeth back down out of the roof of his mouth after they got shoved up there. So now he's wearing a mouth guard to
protect them from future damage until they've fully healed. Or he might be a bit gun-shy and wearing one from now on. Who knows. Also selling
some maybe.

I've noticed a definite upswing in the number of "guys wrassling wearing mouthguards", so I wouldn't hold it against Cesaro if he kept
it even after his teeth heal up. If chomping a piece of high-density plastic can keep a few concussions away from some of these guys? Let's
embrace the Shinsuke-style Mouthguard-Still-In-terview.
Obligatory SCIENCE~! from Wikipedia (bolding done by me):
Mouthguards are used in sports where deliberate or accidental impacts to the face and jaw may cause harm. Such impacts may occur in many sports
including baseball, boxing, mixed martial arts, puroresu, rugby, wrestling, football (soccer), gridiron football, Australian football,
lacrosse, basketball, figure skating, ice hockey, underwater hockey, field hockey, water polo, skiing, and snowboarding. Mouthguards may also
prevent or reduce harm levels of concussion in the event of an injury to the jaw.

I do wonder how much more difficult it makes calling matches. But safety is a good thing.

I'm curious what they would have done had Reigns been there; I mean you could probably imagine most of the match going the same way, but I
don't think Roman would have taken a powder like Angle did.
Well, Roman has already taken powders like that. Royal Rumble a couple of
years go comes to mind.

I thought about that before I posted, and concluded that the art of "calling matches on the fly" isn't as big a thing now as it used
to be. Or, alternately, the guys who do wear mouthguards have developped a different system of signalling, and they're already ahead of the
game. It's not like they were saying "Let's do the tiger-bomb-into-dragon-rana-reversal-sequence after this next dropkick!", or at
least, I presume there's some kind of "carny code" devised by the guys to communicate large infobites in small soundbites. They could
probably adapt to physical cues (supplemented by muffled speech), if they haven't already?

I've always wondered how people like Shinsuke and Asuka get across their intent or call moves or have move sequences relayed to them since their
English isn't really all that clear. Outside of saying, "clothesline" or "bodyslam" how do they send/receive on more complex sequences,
especially with people they haven't worked with a lot? Do wrestlers that don't speak much English have a playbook with coded play calls
like a QB or something?

I've gotta assume (yeah I know the risks of doing that) that part of that "WWE Style" that people go to NXT to work on is somewhat like a
Sportsball Professional needing time to adapt to the 'play-calling' system of his new team. I mean, an armdrag is an armdrag, but in New
Japan it might be cued up with different signals than in WWE.

So just got done watching the PPV today, some random thoughts:
-Maybe it's because I'm an Asuka mark, but I felt like that match with Emma was way too competitive. And don't get me wrong,
it was a good match (and Emma admirably held her own in it), but it felt like that once the crowd realized Asuka wasn't going to kill her in two
minutes, they kind of died down. I would have preferred to see the match be a semi-squash to signal the arrival of Asuka to the RAW roster.
-AJ/Balor was great as would be expected and went just how I predicted. The funny thing is that it's a match that quite literally was never
supposed to happen, yet we ended up with a ****1/2 affair (if you're into ratings) and the crowd chanting "this is awesome" before the bell
even rang, something that never would have happened with Balor against Bray dressed in drag.
-Main event was fun and awesome, but I kind of it put in the same category as the Taker/Triple H HIAC match or Survivor Series 2014 main event, in
that it was part wrestling match, part sports entertainment spectacle. I do feel bad for Roman though, because that was a match that could have done a
lot in getting him back in the good graces of the fans, and instead Angle got all of the glory.
-Speaking of which, and put this in the "probably never going to happen" category, but that could be used as fuel for a Roman heel turn down the
road. He could be pissed off that Rollins and Ambrose went out there without him for the first-ever Shield reunion match and used a "has-been" like
Angle in his place, and there you go.

I agree with all of this, and I'll add that Bliss/Mickie match and all things Elias were also pretty great. This was the most pure had
I've had watching WWE in a looooong time.

Since I started watching again (and maybe this was going on before but regardless, I figured it was common knowledge because it's pretty
gratuitous and noticeable) I've noticed that when one guy has the advantage and they grapple while putting their heads together, that's
the momentum change. Sometimes it's during the grapple on the whip to the ropes where a reversal happens and sometimes it's just walking
up to their fallen opponent and picking them up to their feet.
