I rather like Authors of Pain. I kinda view them as this generation's Dudley Boys or Acolytes in how they can be used against the plethora of smaller guys in tag teams. I like Paul Ellering too. To each their own. Shrug.

Also, I can't take Heavy Machinery seriously just because I think it's such a terrible name for any tag team to have. Every time I hear the name, I too think of WCW and High Voltage.

I mean, I do, too, but that's what I love about them. That said, they definitely need more seasoning, they're not there yet in terms of ringwork. The tag team scene is pretty sparse at this point - the main title and the women's division have refilled, but the tag teams aren't there yet.

I think maybe they should form a superteam to take out the Authors and give some of the potential NXT title guys something to do while Roode rides out a decent reign. Maybe Drew McIntyre/Aleister Black? Ohno/Strong?

Thanks for 'splains!

Its more than just wordplay, the way they wrestle fits the philosophy too.

So... if the way they wrestle fits the philosophy.. They use pretty standard generic offense? That is what "occam's wrestling" would mean to me. "I punch, I kick, I bodyslam. The simplest solution is the right one." Again, I haven't seen them, I'm just extrapolating. I should probably go youtubes at this point. Thank you for contributing to my potential-understanding.

They are big guys who move relatively well, can't speak English (I think), and keep it relatively basic but can put on a good match when paired with good workers. Solid B level prospects but a good team who has a small amount of ... it.

Hey, who knew that short & stocky girls who are apparently afflicted with rabies could be so cute?

Anyhoo, like I said in the SD thread, Asuka and Nikki Cross put more extreme into one NXT match last night than WWE they allowed the main women's roster to to do at the HIAC, TLC, 2xMITB's, a gauntlet match, and a kendo-stick match combined. Some great Twitter videos throughout this to show how the NXT ladies were allowed to tear into each other with near abandon:

You know, everyone says it's not supposed to make sense, like that's the whole point, dude. And I'm just saying, you know, that's like an excuse for lazy storytelling. Just don't sell me shite and tell me it's gold, all right? I might be stoned, but I'm not high. You know what I mean?

Misdirection with the tables was great. Big spots always have a bigger impact when they catch you by suprise. Props to both as Asuka is nearing two years into her streak of dominance and just hit her best performance yet and Cross had a star-making match.

Lol at the STOP RESISTING! from the guards on that Asuka video.

Continued NXT Pro Wrestling excellence certainly lends credence to your theory that RAM and SD will continue to be lukewarm bathwater programming until the ol' Man and his favorite catamite dodders off this mortal coil.

I just don't know what their thinking is in allowing the NXT dames to get crazygonutz with dangerous R-rated spots (to great acclaim and reaction, no less) and the supposed big league broads get restrained to PG-rated silliness. Are they so myopic and tunnel-visioned that they believe whatever bad things might happen on NXT is editable and containable while the live shows have a bigger audience and necessarily must show more restraint in case shit goes south in any given spot?

Agayn, and apologies to Charger, but the sooner Haitch gets the official nod over Vinkkake for The Book, I think the better off we all shall be.

I hope this happens. I hope StepHHH get a nice long run as braintrust of the WWE. Just so I can watch it collapse into flames, and, like and asshole, lean over and whisper, "I told ya so."

Does NXT work a less hectic schedule than the main brands? Could be the NXT women are allowed to work more dangerous spots into their matches because they endure less regular wear and tear, and there are fewer worries about them being injured. Just a guess.

I was thinking along those lines too, but then I figured a ladder match is only a once or twice a year thing. Added to that it's not like the women get a lot of wrassletime either. Sure, there's less of them than the guys, but most of the matches they are in aren't going ten to fifteen minutes. On the other hand, maybe it's because there are so relatively few of them they can't take the risk of a Charlotte or Becky busting an ankle or elbow and being out for months at a time with too many high-risk maneuvers.

Dunno, but I hope the bumps Asuka and Nikki took quite well, with the afterglow of GLOW rattling around in their heads (because you know those gals in the locker room ate that shit up) eventually translates into more violent and dynamic ladybusiness on my screen.
