ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
The Brand Extension Draft:
Complete Results
March 26, 2002

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

After a (frequently non-sensical) ten rounds of drafting talent to Vince McMahon's SmackDown! and to Ric Flair's RAW, the WWF continued assigning talent to each program via a "random" lottery.

The lottery took place exclusively on WWF.com and concluded at about 1am (eastern) time on Monday night/Tuesday morning.  The draft/lottery continued until each side had 30 superstars assigned to its roster.  No non-wrestling TV personalities were selected, and other than Brock Lesnar, no incoming developmental talents were chosen, either.

The roster assignments appear to be complete at this point.  For now...  the draft actually seemed lop-sided towards Vince, so I presume it'd be possible that we'd see some kind of trades happen in the near future so that Vince can acquire his "boys" (like Taker and the nWo) and so that tag teams like the Dudleys and APA can be re-united.

Here are the two rosters as they stand.

WWF-SmackDown! WWF-RAW

1. The Rock
2. Kurt Angle
3. Chris Benoit
4. Hollywood Hulk Hogan
5. Billy & Chuck
6. Edge
7. Rikishi
8. D-Von Dudley
9. Mark Henry
10. Maven
11. Billy Kidman
12. Yoshihiro Tajiri
13. Chris Jericho
14. Ivory
15. Albert
16. The Hurricane
17. Al Snow
18. Lance Storm
19. Diamond Dallas Page
20. Torrie Wilson
21. Scotty 2 Hotty
22. Stacy Keibler
23. Christian
24. Test
25. Faarooq
26. Tazz
27. Hardcore
28. The Big Valbowski
29. Perry Saturn

1. Undertaker
2. nWo (Hall, Nash, X-Pac)
3. Kane
4. Rob Van Dam
5. Booker T
6. Big Show
7. Bubba Ray Dudley
8. Brock Lesnar
9. William Regal
10. Lita
11. Bradshaw
12. Steven Richards
13. Matt Hardy
14. Raven
15. Jeff Hardy
16. Mr. Perfect
17. Spike Dudley
18. D'Lo Brown
19. Shawn Stasiak
20. Terri Runnels
21. Jacqueline
22. Goldust
23. Trish Stratus
24. Justin Credible
25. Big Boss Man
26. Tommy Dreamer
27. Crash Holly
28. Mighty Molly

I guess that the nWo's three-for-one and Billy and Chuck's two-for-one draft status were just to allow them to be kept as units, and NOT to allow either side to gain a manpower advantage.  Flair's RAW was capped at 28 picks because the nWo comprised roster members 29 and 30, already.  Ditto Vince's RAW, which only got 29 picks because the tag champs gave him an extra guy.

More thoughts on the draft tomorrow in a full-length edition of Online Onslaught...
