ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
May 15, 2002

The last set of WWE TV tapings under the "old" new brand extention system took place this week... starting next week, a new alignment for the Fed kicks off, with each brand getting control over 4 full hours of first run shows (with a ninth, shared hour, providing the only cross-over).

But that's next week, and this is now... so let's get on with quick rundowns of what to expect on the remainder of this WWE TV shows over the next few days:

  • On Sunday Night Heat (WWE-R): Goldust beat Crash Holly... Spike Dudley beat the Big Bossman... and D'Lo Brown beat Justin Credible.

  • For Metal/Jakked (WWE-SD): Albert beat Hugh Morrus... Billy Kidman beat Chavo Guerrero... Godfather beat Funaki... and Test/Christian beat Faarooq/Mark Henry.

  • SmackDown! started off with Triple H hitting the ring to cut a promo on Chris Jericho... but he didn't get too far before Edge interrupted, and got all pissy about taking a sledgehammer shot from HHH last week on SD. HHH brushed off the criticisms, saying he's never claimed to be a good guy. Eventually Edge decided to take the confrontation physical, and he attacked HHH. But the brawl didn't get far, as Kurt Angle and Chris Jericho ran out and attacked them both. Angle even managed to cut a bit of Edge's hair before the heels scurried away.

  • Backstage: Mr. McMahon is getting a sneak peak at Stacy Keibler's bikini (for tonight's later bikini contest), when Angle/Jericho interrupt. Even though they interrupted Vince's fun, he sees fit to grant them a tag match against HHH/Edge in tonight's main event.

  • Randy Orton and the Big Valbowski beat Lance Storm and Bob Holly... prior to the match, Storm actually cut a heel promo on Canada (the tapings were in Montreal), so there was some heat for this contest. Orton eventually rolled up Storm for the surprise pinfall win.

  • Backstage: Torrie is getting ready for the bikini contest when Maven walks by and starts checking her out. In walk Reverend D-Von and Deacon Bautista, who insist that Maven's thinking impure thoughts. Al Snow shows up to keep it from getting out of hand, and a D-Von/Maven match is set up for later.

  • Backstage: mild-mannered Gregory Helms is interviewing Funaki about tonight's 3-way Cruiserweight Title match pitting the champ, Tajiri, against Kidman and the Hurricane, when he suddenly finds a note. It says that there will be trouble for the Hurricane should he somehow win the CW Title tonight...

  • D-Von beat Maven, thanks in no small part to the antics of Deacon Bautista. When Al Snow tried to help even the odds, all he got was a collection box shot to the head.

  • Torrie was slated to undress first in the Bikini Contest, but she was interrupted by Tajiri, who escorted her off before she could unviel her finery. Stacy, seeing this, declares herself the winner by default, but gets boos when she decides she won't unveil her bikini to the crowd. At this, Trish Stratus (who is now the women's champ and able to appear on both shows) hit the ring, showed off a hot little number, and was declared the winner by MC Tazz.

  • Backstage: Vince is speaking with D-Von when a distraught Stacy enters the room. Vince signs a women's title match for Stacy, against, Trish, for the PPV on Sunday. And further more, she'll have D-Von as "protection" in her corner. You can see where this is going, right?

  • Rikishi managed to overcome the interference of Billy and Chuck to soundly defeat Rico. After the match, B&C;&R; complained to Vince McMahon, who signed another match for the PPV: Billy and Chuck vs. Rikishi and any partner of Rikishi's choosing.

  • Hulk Hogan hit the ring for a promo, but wound up just standing the ring soaking in cheer for about 7-8 minutes non-stop. The ovation was outrageous, and just would not let up, even after Hogan asked twice. It'll probably be edited down for TV, but for those there live, it was a special moment. Finally, Hogan got started, and talked about with moments like this, he really did believe Hulk-a-mania would live forever. When he started bad-mouthing the Undertaker, Vince McMahon hit the ring, and declared that Hulk-a-Mania was his creation, and that on Sunday, Taker would bury it forever. Hogan took umbrage at that, and wound up KO'ing Vince and giving him the legdrop o' doom.

  • The Hurricane overcame both Tajiri and Kidman to win the Cruiserweight Title. The Hurricane took advantage of Kidman hitting a Shooting Star Press on Tajiri by tossing Kidman out of the match and then following up with a chokeslam on Tajiri to get the win. Onto the mysterious super-villian, now!

  • Backstage: Triple H did an interview in which he relived the career-ending/career-shortening reputation of Hell in the Cell. Edge interrupted again, and said he'd like to take his chances against the Game in such a match, but HHH just laughed him off. Edge retorted again by claiming HHH only got where he is today by banging the boss' daughter. Oooh, tag!

  • In the tag team main event, Jericho/Angle beat HHH/Edge (though not necessarily due to the dissension you might have expected. Edge did the Ricky Morton thing for a big part of the match, and then made the hot tag to HHH. Chaos, as it inevitably does, ensued. Eventually, HHH and Jericho powdered out by brawling with each other back to the dressing room, leaving Edge and Angle. Angle managed a chairshot behind the ref's back, then followed up with an Angle Slam for the pinfall win. After the match, Angle posed over Edge, and again displayed the curly blond locks of Edge's hair that he'd obtained earlier. [The non-taped finish saw HHH and Hogan come out to stop a massive heel beat-down that included Angle, Jericho, Billy, and Chuck. They cleared the ring and posed for fans.]
