ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
June 19, 2002

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

In the last week before a PPV, TV tapings take on an added significance.  The final touches on major PPV feuds are added, and other, mid- and lower-card matches are added.  Here's the full slate of action from that last two night's tapings...

WWE Heat
(Taped Monday, Airs INTERNATIONALLY ONLY)

  • MTV viewers in the US will get a live pre-PPV edition of Heat, but these matches were taped for international versions of the show...
  • Bradshaw (still in Hansen/Windham mode) beat Justin Credible to retain the Hardcore Title
  • Goldust beat Shawn Stasiak
  • William Regal defeated Tommy Dreamer

WWE Velocity
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Saturday)

  • Tajiri defeated Hugh Morrus via pinfall after a stiff kick to the face
  • Chavo Guerrero rolled up Albert after Albert went head-first into an exposed turnbuckle
  • Rev. D-Von Dudley beat Faarooq in a rematch from last week, getting an assist from Deacon Bautista
  • Dark matches included wins for Rey Misterio Jr. (wearing his mask) and Randy Orton

WWE SmackDown!
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Thursday)

  • Kurt Angle opened the show with a promo, again wearing his wig, but this time, admitting that it is a wig and that his hair hadn't grown back after the last PPV.  He promises to get revenge on Hulk Hogan by breaking his ankle at KotR.  This brings out Hogan, who is eventually goaded into attacking Angle, but Angle gets the best of it, and quickly escapes while he can.
  • Rikishi beat Christian via pinfall, but Christian foot was clearly on the ropes when the ref (Brian Hebner again?) made the count.  Lance Storm came out and plead Christian's case to no avail, and after the same thing happened to him last week, he concludes that WWE refs have a vendetta against Canadian wrestlers.  He announces that the US sucks and Canada rules.
  • Backstage:  Nidia reveals that she's keeping Hurricane's mask in a warm, moist place, if you catch my drift.
  • Jamie Knoble defeated Billy Kidman via a top rope DDT to earn a KotR title shot against the Hurricane.  After the match, the Hurricane struck, and removed his mask from Nidia's panties.
  • Triple H had little trouble dispatching Billy Gunn.  But after the match, Kurt Angle attacked, providing enough distraction for the Undertaker to come out and go after HHH.  But HHH is ready for it, and gets Taker in position to be Pedigreed, until Kurt Angle enters the ring with a chair.  Angle winds up accidentally hitting Taker with the chair as the segment ends.
  • Backstage, Dawn Marie and Stacy have a few catty words about the lingerie contest next week on TNN.  Stacy goes into Vince's office, and they briefly discuss how good it will be to have the Rock at King of the Ring (even though Vince says he doesn't know what Rock will be doing there), before Taker storms in and demands a match against Angle later tonight.
  • In a KotR tourney quarterfinal match, Chris Jericho made the Big Valbowski tap out to the Walls of Jericho.  Jericho advances to face RVD in Semi-Final #1 on Sunday.
  • Backstage, Angle talks to Vince and tries to beg off the match with Taker.  When Vince doesn't cave in, Angle gets all tough and says he's gonna break Taker's ankle just like he's gonna break Hogan's.
  • In the other KotR quarterfinal, Test hit the big boot on Hardcore Holly to get a pinfall win.  Test gets Brock Lesnar in Semi-Final #2 on Sunday.
  • Backstage, Chris Jericho is interviewed, and cryptically promises an All-Canada KotR Final, implying that Test will somehow get the better of Lesnar after he (Jericho) beats RVD.  Interesting thesis, but not a likely one, I fear.
  • Also backstage:  Vince has assembled security in his office, and has called both Angle and Taker there for a stern talking-to.  Vince says he wants them to go out there and have a clean match, so that both are healthy for their big matches on Sunday.  This falls on deaf ears, and Angle and Taker end up brawling in Vince's office.
  • Kurt Angle beat the Undertaker via a school-boy roll-up when Triple H came out and distracted Taker.  Post-match hijinx included Hogan coming out to try to get a piece of Angle, as the brawl became a four-way affair.  Angle manages to lock Hogan in an ankle lock, while HHH does deliver the Pedigree on Taker.  Angle and HHH lock up, and HHH dispatches him over the top rope.  The show will end with HHH celebrating for the fans.  [The live crowd got an added bonus, and Hogan came to and joined HHH in reprising last week's pantsing and de-wigging of Angle before doing a joint posedown.]

Check out all these shows as their air throughout the rest of the week, or at the very least, make sure you come on back to OO for full coverage in the form of our outstanding recaps.
