ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
November 6, 2002

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

Usually, Wednesday is the day we bring you up to speed on TV tapings for Heat, Velocity, and SmackDown!...

Well, this Wednesday, we've got a little bonus.  The Fed has agreed to put together a special "joint-roster" special for UPN next week, and this week's tapings featured bonus matches and interviews that'll be used for that show.

If you want to know what's happening on TV for the rest of this week -- and now, into next week, too! -- then read on.  Otherwise, this is your last chance to back out.

Here are the full tapings results, compiled from e-mail reports:

WWE Joint-Roster UPN Special
(Taped on both Monday and Tuesday, Airs Next Tuesday)

  • At RAW tapings, Eric Bischoff came out and ordered a "bonus" match, though he didn't reveal what it was for.  The RAW main event combatant stayed in the ring, and they were joined by six others so that it was Kane, Booker, Bubba Dudley, Jeff Hardy, and Rob Van Dam vs. Triple H, Chris Jericho, Christian, Rosie, and Jamal.  They had a very good 12 minute match, which degenerated into a trainwreck at the end.  Everybody started hitting finishers, and then powdering out, until it was just HHH and Kane.  HHH got the pinfall for his team after a Pedigree on Kane.
  • At SmackDown tapings, fans were treated to an "interpromotional bikini contest" between Trish Stratus and Torrie Wilson.  Both women showed off their selected beachwear, but before fans could determine a winner, Nidia ran in and tried to attack.  Torrie and Trish united and ran her off, and Tazz declared the match a draw.
  • Also at SD!: Eddie Guerrero beat Chris Benoit and Edge in a triple threat match.  Lots of great action, and then a wild finish that started with a ref bump.  Chavo ran out first, and tried to help Eddie, but was soon offset by Rey Mysterio coming out to help Edge.  In the chaos, Benoit was able to lock Eddie in the Crippler Crossface, but there was no ref.  So Kurt Angle decided to come out and help his fellow tag champ by throwing the ref into the ring.  Unfortunately, in doing so, he tossed the ref so far that he hit Benoit, breaking up the hold.  When Benoit got up to confront Angle on the apron, Eddie was able to recover enough to roll Benoit up from behind for the pinfall win.  Really good stuff by all accounts.

WWE Sunday Night Heat
(Taped Monday, Airs Sunday)

  • Nathan Jones (Aussie bodybuilder who briefly trained for a WCW debut) beat Lance Kincaid in a Dark Match
  • For Heat, Spike Dudley beat D'Lo Brown
  • Goldust beat Johnny Stamboli
  • Steven Richards beat "local jobber" Erin Stevens (thanks to OO Reader Patrick Gleason for that ID)
  • Raven cut an in-ring promo hyping his "masterpiece," though he didn't reveal what it was

WWE Velocity
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Saturday)

  • Nathan Jones won a dark match over developmental talent Doug Basham
  • Chuck Palumbo and Sho Funaki beat D-Von Dudley and Ron Simmons, when Funaki managed to pin D-Von
  • Albert squashed a local worker (identified by one person as the same "Lance Kincaid" from the night before)
  • Tajiri beat Crash Holly

WWE SmackDown!
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Thursday)

  • In the SD! opener, Billy Kidman and Torrie Wilson beat Jamie Knoble and Nidia in a mixed tag match.  Kidman pinned Noble, so perhaps they are setting up a Cruiserweight Title match for the PPV...
  • Backstage: Al Wilson told Torrie that he had to do something "for himself" later in the night....  then Rikishi and John Cena had a freestyle rap contest setting up their match later in the night...  then Eddie Guerrero went in to confront Stephanie about not getting a tag title shot, joking about her kiss with Bischoff along the way; Steph got angry and booked Eddie to face Brock Lesnar in the SD! main event.
  • Rikishi quickly dispatched John Cena with a Banzai Drop.  Yee haw.
  • Al Wilson came out to the ring and asked Dawn Marie to join him.  He went down on one knee, and proposed to her.  Dawn accepted.  The crowd went mild.
  • The Big Show basically squashed Matt Hardy, pinning him with a chokeslam.  After the match, Show grabbed a mic and cut a promo promising to win at Survivor Series.
  • Rey Mysterio and Edge beat Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle in a Best of Three Falls Match to win the WWE Tag Team Titles.  First fall went to Edge and Rey, when they hit a wicked-looking powerbomb/spinning senton combo move on Angle.  Second fall went to Benoit and Angle, when Edge tapped out to the anklelock.  Things got hairy in the third fall, as Benoit and Angle's teamwork deteriorated and they started arguing.  A miscommunication allowed Edge to get the deciding fall on Benoit.  This was, hands-down, the match of the night, match of the week, and as good as anything else SD! has featured recently.  [Expect this to set up Benoit vs. Angle and Rey/Edge vs. the Guerreros for the PPV.]
  • Backstage:  Paul Heyman once again registered his frustration with Brock Lesnar for going through with a title defense against the Big Show.  Heyman said he was not going to accompany Brock to the ring against Eddie in protest.
  • Brock Lesnar, getting all cheers without Heyman, managed to beat Eddie Guerrero in the SD! main event.  Chavo Guerrero even tried to interfere, but it was useless.  Brock hit the F-5 for the win.  But as Brock was walking up the ramp, Big Show attacked him from behind, and threw him off the stage and through a table (a la what he did to the Undertaker).  Heyman, refs, and medics hit the scene, and Lesnar did a full stretcher job.
  • At this point, Show went back to the ring and cut a promo, outlining his recent path of destruction, and again promising to take the title at Survivor Series.  [Some thought this was a "tag" on to the SD! show, others felt it might be another segment taped for the UPN special next week.]

Sounds like that tag title match is gonna be something special tomorrow night.  Check it out on UPN, or come on back for The Cubs Fan's SD! recap here on Friday!
