ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
December 11, 2002

by Rick Scaia
Exclusive to OnlineOnslaught.com

With only a pair of matches set for Sunday's PPV going into this week's TV tapings, the Fed had its work cut out for it.  RAW brought us a handful of new pairings... but what of SmackDown?

Well, if you can't wait till tomorrow night to find out, then you're in the right place.  Folks not wanting surprises spoiled best hit BACK now, because these are the results from WWE's past two days of TV tapings, as compiled from e-mail reports:

WWE Sunday Night Heat
(Taped Monday, Airs Internationally Only)

  • Spike Dudley beat Johnny Stamboli
  • The Hurricane beat Raven
  • Tommy Dreamer beat Sean O'Haire

WWE Velocity
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Saturday)

  • Matt Hardy beat a jobber
  • Chuck Palumbo beat a jobber
  • Funaki beat a jobber
  • Billy Kidman beat Chavo Guerrero in a good match
  • NOTE: the reason for the jobber parade is because a bunch of guys were getting try-out looks from WWE at this taping

WWE SmackDown!
(Taped Tuesday, Airs Thursday)

  • In the opener, B2 beat Rikishi, but only thanks to an assist from John Cena.  Of note: Bull and Cena are completely pulling a Public Enemy vibe at this point, in terms of dress and mannerisms, according to one reporter.
  • Backstage: Torrie Wilson arrives, and finds out that Dawn Marie is spreading all kinds of rumors about what happened at the hotel last week.
  • Backstage (or earlier today, or something):  Brock Lesnar bumps into Kurt Angle, and the two go all Mutual Respect on each other.  They briefly touch on how great it would be if they -- as two former amateur champs -- could face each other in WWE, but the real gist of this was Angle asking Lesnar if Lesnar would be in his corner at Armageddon to help offset Paul Heyman.  Brock says if Angle can get his suspension lifted, he'll consider it.
  • Backstage:  Albert meets with Paul Heyman and Big Show, and is dubbed "A-Train" by Heyman.  Great.  Then some guy (Josh from TE1 making his debut as an interviewer?) comes in and tells Heyman and Show about Lesnar maybe getting his suspension lifted and they freak out.
  • Bill DeMott squashed Shannon Moore.  Nothing special, but everybody seems to agree that his moonsault looks awesome.
  • Los Guerreros beat the make-shift squad of Chris Benoit and Billy Kidman.  Good action here, with Kidman taking a lot of punishment before a hot tag to Benoit.  But the end came when Chavo and Kidman were legal: Benoit had Eddie in the Crossface to restrain him, but Kidman whiffed on a Shooting Star Press, allowing Chavo to roll him up for the quick pinfall.  Later in the night, it was announced that we'd see Eddie vs. Benoit at the PPV.
  • Dawn Marie hit the ring and says that things got hot and heavy between her and Torrie in the hotel room last week, and then calls out Al Wilson.  She apologizes to him, saying she was thinking of him the whole time, and Al forgives her.  Torrie comes out, they catfight a bit, and the upshot of the whole segment is that Dawn will reveal just how much Torrie actually enjoyed her visit to Dawn's room last week at the PPV... funny, I thought they already showed that footage on Byte This?
  • Backstage: Angle convinces Steph to let Lesnar be in his corner for the PPV match against Show...
  • Crash beat Jamie Noble by DQ; Crash had the match won when the former Little Guido (now billed as Nunzio) came out and attacked.  After the match, Noble and Nunzio celebrated, and Nidia only joined in reluctantly.
  • Stephanie hit the ring to officially sign Scott Steiner to SD!... Steiner looks like he's gonna sign, then makes the revelation that nothing happened in the limo last week, and that Steph's nothing but a tease.  Steiner tossed the contract away and walked out, as Eric Bischoff made a surprise appearance to give us a shit-eating grin while standing at the top of the stage.
  • Backstage: we get some footage of Rey Mysterio's knee surgery, followed up by an interview with Edge (again, Josh from TE is playing the role of mic stand).  Basically, they talk about the main event tag match and set up Edge vs. Albert for the PPV.
  • Big Show and Albert beat Kurt Angle and Edge in the main event.  Match was described by OO Reader Mike Davis as "surprisingly decent" considering who was involved.  Show pinned Angle, thanks to a distraction from Heyman, followed by a chokeslam.  A-Train did his backbreaker thing on Angle, too; Edge had already powdered out after a chairshot on his knee (a la what Albert did to Rey last week).  After the cameras stopped rolling, Angle and Edge made the big comeback, and double teamed on Albert for a bit.

Doesn't sound like a home run show by any means, but if it sets up a Benoit vs. Eddie PPV match, it can't be all bad, right?  Check out the as-aired version of SD! tomorrow night on UPN, or come on back for The Cubs Fan's recap here on OO...
