ONLINE ONSLAUGHT
WWE TV Spoilers
March 10, 2004

Hey, like there isn't enough stuff for you to be reading today, right?  If ruining SD! for yourself is a priority, though, hey, read on...

A note: because Heat will be live before WM for most of us, I'm not bothering to include the "international edition" tapings.  This is just what happened last night in Atlantic City, as compiled from e-mail reports:

  • In dark matches: Bradshaw beat Horshu, and Kendo Sasuke beat Billy Gunn.
  • In Velocity matches: Shannon Moore beat Paul London....  Chuck Palumbo beat Orlando Jordan...  and Bob Holly beat A-Train.
  • For the SD! opener, John Cena beat Rhyno.  Pre-match rap was longer than the match, said one report, as the squash match vibe out of the gate was similar to Monday's RAW.
  • Backstage: Paul Heyman announces he wants the entire SD! roster assembled for a big announcement, and after a commercial break, we come back to see most of the boys in a room.  Heyman proceeds to give them a pep talk mostly centered on their SmackDown! Pride, and how they will react when that jerk from RAW, Steve Austin, shows up later tonight.  Seemed to have the desired effect on most guys...  throughout the rest of the night, SD! heels would be positioned around the arena, ready to confront Austin, but in cut-aways to them, Austin never shows up, despite stuff like his truck being there and other signs.
  • Rey Mysterio vs. Jamie Noble goes to a no contest due to six other guys from Sunday's "Cruiserweight Open" running in to interfere after a few minutes.....
  • In an impromptu match, Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Ultimo Dragon, and Funaki beat Jamie Noble, Tajiri, Akio, and Sakoda in a very good cruiserweight match.  Finish had the obligatory CW trainwreck spot leaving Rey in the ring to get the win.  But after the match, all the cruisers came back and brawled some more, which met to the satisfaction of Chavo Guerrero (who with his dad was out doing commentary for this match), who liked seeing 7 of his 9 known opponents for Sunday beating on each other.
  • Eddie Guerrero hit the ring, and it's unclear if a match was his business, or if it was a promo that turned into a match.  Either way, it starts out with some words for Kurt Angle, but then turns into a one-on-one against Shelton Benjamin.  Eddie overcomes ample outside interference to score the pinfall win in a match that was really good and exciting but felt a bit on the short side to observers.  After the match, Kurt Angle walked out and stood on the ramp and did a staredown with Eddie, but they did not come to blows.
  • Big Show beat Two Guys in a squash.  After the match, John Cena ran in and brawled with Show, getting the better of him.  Unlike last this, this time around, it's Show who gets a concerned look on his face as he powders out....
  • Scotty 2 Hotty and Riskihi beat the Basham Brothers in an OK match.  I'm telling you, the Bashams are a much harder sell without Shaniqua...
  • The Main Event Angle had Paul Heyman in the ring, with the entire SD! roster surrounding him.  Thoughout 3 or 4 vignettes earlier in the night, they haven't been able to find Steve Austin, but they know he's here.  Brock Lesnar comes out on the Justice Buggy last and has a few words, too.  Finally, it's been enough and Austin's music hits and Austin walks slowly to the ring.  It looks like he's gonna have to run a gauntlet, but as he walks the aisle, every single SD! star looks Austin in the eye and lets him pass, angering Paul Heyman, who is alone in the ring with Lesnar.  This leads to a big ass brawl in which Austin gets the upper hand early (even bloodies Lesnar at one point), but Lesnar comes back and gets a few shots in, too.  However, when Austin escapes an F-5 attempt, Lesnar decides he's had enough and leaves with Heyman.  Austin spent the rest of the night celebrating with beers and driving around his reclaimed Justice Buggy.

Check out the final SD! on the Road to WM tomorrow night, or come on back to OO for full coverage and analysis on Friday!
