NEWSFLASH: Jack Swagger wins World Heavyweight Title

At Tuesday's SmackDown TV tapings, Jack Swagger cashed in his Money in the Bank title shot, and defeated Chris Jericho in an impromptu match just two days after winning the guaranteed title shot at WrestleMania.

In so doing, Swagger took a widely-held perception among "smart" fans that he'd become the first MitB Winner to whiff on his title opportunity, and flipped it on its ear by becoming the fastest one ever to sucessfully cash in the prize.

The title change will occur in the opening segment of this week's Friday Night SmackDown: Chris Jericho will have a celebratory opening promo interrupted by Edge, ending with the already-dinged-up champ getting Speared.

Enter Swagger with a his MitB Briefcase and a referee.

Swagger took the chance to KO Edge with the case, then covered Jericho's carcass to win the title.

It was later announced that Edge and Jericho would face off, one-on-one, in the main event of NEXT Friday's SmackDown (4/9) to determine the #1 Contender to Swagger at the Extreme Rules PPV.

Seems like a dick move to Jericho, who has the built-in rematch clause, whereas Edge has nothing but a big fat loss against Jericho in his one contractually-obligated title shot at WM26... but hey, it'll make for some quality weekend rasslin' the next two weeks! Title change this Friday, Jericho/Edge II next Friday.
